Me and the boys taking an uber after a night drinking

[โ€“] Dmian@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

"Yea idk checo, why did you leave door open last lap?"

"Eepy"

[โ€“] DV8@lemmy.world 14 points 1 year ago

Celebrity flag waver standing there looks like he's being forced to go wave that flag by his mom.

[โ€“] TheBlue22@lemmy.blahaj.zone 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

THERE IS NO FUCKING WAY! ABSOLUTE MADMAN

[โ€“] omgarm@feddit.nl 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Checo makes the same mistake twice.

[โ€“] TheBlue22@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Absolutely. Why did he leave the door wide open, IN THE LAST LAP?!

Anyone else furiously drinking coffee to watch a race that should've been convenient but for some reason isn't?

[โ€“] bestusername@aussie.zone 7 points 1 year ago

Nope, it's a very convenient Sunday afternoon race for us Aussies, doesn't happen often.

[โ€“] TehWorld@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The explanation that I saw was that Europeans will be able to wake up and have a cup of coffee with the race. Apparently there are more fans there.

[โ€“] Jozav@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

The explanation I saw was that the timing was adjusted to traffic needs on the strip.

[โ€“] hydrashok@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 year ago

Still not sure what they were thinking with the schedule. Itโ€™s crazy that itโ€™s more convenient to watch the races live that are on the other side of the world than one a single time zone away. Iโ€™m just planning on starting the replay tomorrow morning. Donโ€™t have the stamina to stay up that late anymore!

[โ€“] DV8@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Just waking up and getting ready to install myself in front of the tv. I do feel sympathy for you US fans, but I must admit I like these morning races.

[โ€“] JJROKCZ@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Youโ€™re also American I take it? Iโ€™m about to go to Wallyโ€™s and grab a slushee and an energy drink just in case I need em. Itโ€™s starting midnight my time so not bad but if the ending goes to 3 thatโ€™s when Iโ€™ll need some cafรฉine.

This is Charles Leclerc big opportunity to convert a pole into a win. I truly hope he makes it. The guys needs it (and deserves it) after a mostly forgettable year (save for the poles achived).

I also hope this is an entertaining race, and we see a lot of good racing from people in the mid-field or out of position. Cโ€™mon Las Vegas! Surprise us in a good way!

Welp. I am impressed by this race. Much better than I expected. As good of a first race as you can get.

[โ€“] TheBlue22@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Leclerc will burn his tires, and perez will get him for the 2nd.

If the tires fall off too much, he might get got by piastri as well

Edit: piastri seems to be falling off, so it's probable lec could keep the 3rd

[โ€“] TheBlue22@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

4 way fight for the 1st, this race is shaping up to be fantastic.

Edit: OK maybe 3 way fight

I have no clue who I'd vote for as DOTD. Great work for Perez, but it's more a return to form from bad form than above and beyond IMO.

Also, poor Charles, he keeps making mistakes like this.

[โ€“] fiah@discuss.tchncs.de 3 points 1 year ago

Hamilton for his overtakes perhaps?

Expected this to be the biggest most exciting celebrity packed grid walk. It did not deliver.

Perez had a great start. Sainz lost it (lost grip?)

Max feels like he's on the back foot here. This is going to be interesting.

I absolutely love the cool down car. That's great!

Bieber looks unimpressed

I knew that corner would have a victim. The braking zone in a bend when it's this cold is difficult as hell

It's up to you now perez. FINISH THE MISSION

[โ€“] Dmian@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

5s for Russell

[โ€“] June@lemm.ee 4 points 1 year ago

Shockingly good race. I was very wrong about this venue. So very wrong.

[โ€“] hagelslager@feddit.nl 4 points 1 year ago

At this point there could be one of several winners. Interesting!

5s time penalty for Max? Man's gonna have a 30s lead by the end of the race.

This race is massively exceeding expectations. So much action it's kind of crazy.

[โ€“] Dmian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Perez flying

[โ€“] Dmian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

When the tires die, you become a sitting duck

[โ€“] Gsicht@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

To quote Crofty from a couple seasons back: Quack, quack, overtake.

[โ€“] Dmian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

The race is way more open than expected. But itโ€™s mostly strategic now

[โ€“] TheBlue22@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 1 year ago (2 children)

WOW! Amazing move by Charles

[โ€“] Dmian@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Those cars that changed to hards under SC got a massive advantage

Hunt who down? Gamer is 4 seconds off of stroll lmao

[โ€“] hagelslager@feddit.nl 3 points 1 year ago
