Even D1 howitzer outranges TOS-1, they don't have any other choice. TOS-1 survives by being undetected

The TOS-1 has a range of only 10km, which is even shorter than tube artillery’s range. They are quite adept at making a big boom, but they are basically on-top of the front when they do it. Really makes their usefulness quite limited.
