As a Discord user, I keep forgetting that I have Discord.
Science Fiction
This magazine is aimed at fans and creators of sci-fi and related media of all kinds. It includes all content related to the sci-fi genre and only content related to the sci-fi genre. The goal is to build a community for everyone who enjoys science fiction and related topics. This includes the obvious books, movies, and TV shows, but also original writing, the discussion of writing SF, futuristic art and designs, and the science and technologies that inspire the sci-fi genre. **Team Top 20**
Personally, I can't figure discord out. It just doesn't make sense to me, so my vote would be no, for that reason.
Discord is great for a group of friends who want a place to chat, but it’s not great for public content.
I use it for voice chat with friends when playing online games but for anything else it just doesn't hit the same way. I can't see it being a replacement for reddit or lemmy for instance.
Every time I've ever had a discord in conjunction to a community, it has always drastically multiplied the moderation efforts. Discord is a black hole and not worth the time.
I'm not part of this specific community (yet) but I do have experience with this. It's awful and I don't recommend it from a moderation standpoint.
Good points, thanks!
As a gamedev I pretty much live in Discord, so I'd be happy to have a good sci-fi server to join. I could see it being good for more ongoing discussions around popular series.
