Red states are dangerous for any nonwhite male. Women? Traveling to a red state and get raped? Whelp better hope you don't find out that you are pregnant while still in the state. LGBTQ+? Whelp, better hope no one knows your sexual identity or you could be denied life saving medication or could be jailed for simply using the wrong bathroom. Black? Whelp, people are literally hunting you while you try to pick up snacks at the local dollar general.

So Canadá is going to let trans people get treatment with informed consent model, right?

Right?

Some of our states are really good for trans people. A map of which regions yo avoid would be far more helpful than a blanket warning.

[–] Dimantina@lemmy.world 19 points 2 years ago (1 children)

They already do allow trans care via informed consent.

[–] Evkob@lemmy.ca 10 points 2 years ago (1 children)

Healthcare is under provincial jurisdiction, therefore this varies depending on where in Canada. My province doesn't offer informed consent HRT.

[–] Dimantina@lemmy.world 6 points 2 years ago (4 children)

It is but... Which province? I help trans people get HRT and I know of/have lists of available doctors who will do it via informed consent in every province.

I know I'm a random internet stranger so don't doz yourself here, but if you feel comfortable messaging me I'll help out if you need.

Florida holds a unique status within these states, with travel advisories warning against visits. The “do not travel” recommendation extends to even connecting flights through Florida. As of July 1, transgender individuals could face up to a year in jail for using the bathroom that aligns with their gender identity. This risk persists even for those who have legally altered their identification documents. The state retains the power to investigate an individual's birth gender to determine if a crime has been committed simply by using the bathroom - investigations that could involve genital exams, chromosome testing, and more.

Wow, that's some serious third world country shit. Horrifying!

Holy shit, that is so fucked up wtf.

[–] VegaLyrae@kbin.social 1 points 2 years ago

Yes her map is good, I just wish it didn't show "states with a possibility in 2 years" in such a dark red color as it is misleading when compared to like... Actual bad states.

A lot of states with those laws probably also have "Stand Your Ground" laws and loose guns regulations, so really nobody should go there.

And as a blue blooded, god feering, gun toting, truck driving, steak eating, pussy grabbing, anti-woke, America first, patriot like myself that is exactly what we want. -s

This is the best summary I could come up with:

Anti-LGBT protests in the US rose 30-fold last year compared with 2017, while legal moves to restrict LGBT rights are on the rise.

The term 2SLGBTQI+ is widely used in Canada for people who consider themselves two-spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning or intersex.

"Since the beginning of 2023, certain states in the US have passed laws banning drag shows and restricting the transgender community from access to gender-affirming care and from participation in sporting events," they told CBC News.

In March, Tennessee's governor signed laws banning drag performances in front of children and restricting medical treatment for transgender youth.

Two months later, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed bills banning children from undergoing transgender medical treatments or going to drag shows, and restricting pronoun use in classrooms.

On Monday, a mural in Florida dedicated to Irish journalist Lyra McKee, who was shot dead in 2019, was defaced with a swastika and anti-LGBT graffiti.

The original article contains 349 words, the summary contains 154 words. Saved 56%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!

2SLGBTQI+

I support diversity and Im happy to let anyone be whoever they want to be, as long as they are not hurting anyone, but we need to stop adding letters to the LGBTQ community.

Canada should issue an advisory for people travelling to Alberta

[–] imgonnatrythis@lemm.ee 2 points 2 years ago

I mean, stay the hell away from Florida and you should be ok.
