Leather gloves are ubiquitous in the world of welding/forging/casting etc.

Any alternatives that have long sleeves? I've seen some short sleeved kiln gloves which I've used, they're better than nothing but not as safe (especially welding with UV) and tend to be less puncture resistant which is bad in some cases.

As far as I know there are Kevlar gloves for Welding that give you protection against cuts or heat. For example these:

I know Kevlar from outdoor hobbies but I'm not a welder myself, so I have no experience in this regard.

I have a pair of these that i use for charcoal/wood fire handling when camping. I am also not a welder, and they dont get consistent use, but they have held up quite well over the 5 years i have had them. I highly recommend them.
