Worried they had killed him, everyone rushed over to find Hawking giggling at his own joke. The alarm was from an office computer losing power.

No surprise here. The man was not only a genius, from what I have read he and a wicked sense of humour as well.

A friend of mine almost ran him over once when Hawking randomly swerved out into the road in front of him. He was pretty wild in his own way.

There was a rumor that he would 'accidentally' run over the toes of people he didn't like. When asked about it, he said something like "that's not true, and I'll run over anyone who says it is."
