Yes it was always performative but it was systemically targeted and dismantled by Robbie Starbuck (and his ilk) using boycotts (edit: and harassment) campaigns.

Nah man, this is recency bias, pre internet science was generally well regarded and respected. There is empirical evidence to support this even over just the last 10 years.

This doesn't change the CEO using an official proton account to praise trump and call him the GOP the party of the little guy. I don't care about their real ideological opinion, but rather whether they're going to gargle fascist balls and betray privacy. Trust is a fragile thing

Edit:a word

I've been ramping up my de-googling for this exact reason, I wish I had done it years ago but complacency is a bitch

We can only control what we can control

Yeah it's a bit of a "for now" thing and worth keeping an eye on Italy. To their credit, they don't offer services in Italy itself anymore after the "privacy shield" bullshit because "it goes against their mission" (for what that's worth lol)

Afaik, there's not many other choices for port forwarding

100%

It's the ocean we swim in, it's all we know. We, in general, think we're being different by swimming in a different direction but we're still ultimately aquatic. We gotta grow legs and evolve.

I had a very similar realization in a smaller microcosm shortly after my son was born, I knew I wanted to parent differently than my parents had done but I didn't know how and was just replicating what they did in different ways. It took that realization and subsequent reeducation/complete shift in view what parenting even is and how it can look.
