Will it? Even if they DO release the files (a big "if"), the right is too occupied with Charlie Kirk to care. Actually, if they think that the files would come out eventually anyway, this would arguably be an ideal time to drop them.

And then there are all the young people who are welcoming fascism and the climate crisis with open arms. In the US election, 43% of 18-24 year olds voted for fascism and the destruction of our environment, up from 31% in 2020.

It's definitely opportunistic backpedalling, but it's a good sign of sorts: We've proven that, if we can punish them financially, they'll do the right thing. For the wrong reasons, obviously, but in these times, I'll take what we can get.
