Aha, that's the one I was thinking of.

Woah there. This much excitement is tough to handle.

I thought we had a story with the count over 100 already?

Edit: Browsed headlines. The statement was "near 100"

I'd be more than happy to trade places and watch you do all these gungho things you claim you'd do were you in my shoes. I bet I know exactly how that would turn out.

No. We absolutely aren't there yet.

Right there with you on all of this. I actually just said as much in reply to Java's comment to you.

To summarize: "They did nothing wrong and we knew nothing about it".

  • The first part of that statement is false.
  • The second part of that statement is either 1) false 2) admission that they don't pay a bit of attention to communities they signed up to pay attention to, or 3) indication that they're buried and need more assistance with moderating (to be charitable)

And trust me, if speaking out like this is the only thing that results in action being taken I'll continue to do so, though it would be nice to see that change.

You have a very interesting definition of personal attack. The one thing I said that was personal was "touch grass", and that was in response to a smartass reply. Everything else stated was factual observation of their behavior.

I find it hard to believe that your entire mod team didn't notice this account's activity, and as Philip advised there have definitely been other reports. If any of your mods were paying any attention at all the sketchy sources were front and center in the community feed.

It would be daft to turn a blind eye to this and simply block anyone like this account. Hell, according to your own comments even with reports nothing would have been done since on the most technical level according to you no rules were broken. If you can't read between the lines when accounts exhibit activity like this, Lemmy is going to turn into a propaganda spamverse.

In the end it's your community/instance so you do you, but such attitude will not foster growth of the fediverse, especially with desirable users.

The people who make comments like this have no idea of the situation most of us are in here.

There have been sizeable protests despite the facts that many can't afford to take time off work, risk losing their job for taking time off, have to travel great distances to get to protests, and other things. Getting arrested can ruin the rest of your life in some situations.

Oh, and most of us aren't suicidal, so the whole "get a gun and go after those important people" ain't a thing because that's a damn good way to end up in a body bag for little to no effect. There's a point where that is a relevant option compared to available alternatives but we're not there yet.

A bow-tie wearing duck has been injured in a drunken pub brawl with a local dog in Chulmleigh, Devon.

The booze-loving bird, affectionately named Star, was enjoying a pint in The Old Courthouse Inn with his handler, Barrie Hayman, when Hayman's canine Meggie sparked a bar brawl.

Star was left with injuries to his beak after the fight.

"Star pushed his luck too far and Meggie snapped - splitting Star's bottom beak right down the middle," Hayman, 69, told the Cheddar Valley Gazette.

"He gave her a stare, then promptly stood on her back. It was not pretty and not nice. We were so scared we would lose Star.

...

Hayman has cared for Star ever since he was a chick, carrying him around in his pocket. Once the duckling grew up, he developed a taste for real ale and started following his owner to the pub.

"He just won't leave me and so we go everywhere together," Hayman said. "I've not trained him to follow me. He just seems to like it and he is one fantastic duck.

"He loves to come to the pub, where everyone loves him. He is such a personality and attracts so much attention."
