Reddit was not much different in the beginning. It was kinda of weird and had a super Linux tech nerd culture with a circle jerky political culture. There was kind of a nice time between that and now, even though it was still niche. Hopefully we can see something like that again but without all the private interest ruining it in the end. But yeah, I’m with you.

I voted for Bernie twice. But he couldn’t even come close to beating Hillary when she’s was handcuffed to an fbi investigation. Also, it’s hilarious you think he wouldn’t lose a second term in a similar fashion to Carter vs Reagan.

That would be nice. But one party’s voters think that Arabs deserve no quarter. The other party’s voters are somewhat split and nuanced on the issue. So if you want only zero funding for Israel, or no vote, you’re going to get the party who believes in no mercy, kill all Muslims, and annex all of Palestinian lands yesterday.

Best case scenario it’s a very bold dogwhistle. Which isn’t any better.

It’s because the things they don’t like aren’t big enough to switch and get new playlists etc.

Socially it is moving pretty fast to the right in many places. They still have trains and healthcare. For now. Most US cities are as left leaning as Europe is.

Make them in Mexico. Less reliance on one country is better for everyone.

Italy’s problems aren’t new. Am Italian.

I live in a very, very touristy area. I just accept that I live somewhere other people want to see, and there’s real consequences to that. The consequences are significant. Traffic, crowding, high prices, shitty restaurants, etc. There are benefits though. And not all tourist jobs are bad. Yeah they’re not engineering jobs, but to the people who live off those jobs they are happy they exist. It’s easy for someone who is privileged to say no one wants those jobs.

It’s like one edgy dude. All the font is exactly the same for 90% of those. ‘Go Home Tourist’ is basically his graffiti name. News agencies, tourists, and social media posters love it though.

My city banned Airbnb and VRBO, and actually successfully made it not a thing here. Not sure why Barcelona cannot also. The water usage issue seems easy to fix, or not really the issue at all.
