I'd recommend migrating one service at a time (install, migrate, shake down; next service).

Either prioritize what you want declouded the most, or start with the smallest migration and snowball bigger.

It's YouTube, but Shifter out of Calgary.

who has evet said, "I wish i had less pizza to eat :)

I have said it before. But usually after eating way too much pizza.

I disagree, but maybe it's because I have kids of my own now.

Do any of you face similar challenges

Sounds like, I'm in a fairly ideal suburb for everything I need but the distances can be far for things I want

do you just drive when it makes the most sense to drive?

My biggest mental shift was instead of "driving if it makes sense to drive" to "driving if it doesn't make sense to walk/bike/transit."

Basically I look at all other methods of transit/destinations first; then drive only if required.

Biggest example: I usually take the bike and trailer to drop my kid off at daycare on the way to work. Weather hasn't stopped me yet; but if the school busses are canceled, I will drive because there's a marked increase in more drivers paying less attention on the roads I must take. If I had separated bike facilities I could still bike.

I'd prefer throttle over max speed.

I don't have any cycle lanes in my town, so the faster I can get myself and my child out of an intersection, the better. I'm usually pedaling around on the lowest power assist, so the throttle lets me kick it to max without hitting a button up and down 4x per intersection.

Alternatively, just connect the throttle to the pedals/padel assist, and I'd be happy (i.e. throttle behaves as usual, but only while pedal assist is already on).

Might save some electricity by just running the server instead of the while game.

My radwagon motor tops out at 32kph, I can pedal it up to about 40kph. At 40kph I can stop in 3m on dry tarmac, about 6m in snow.

For comparison, the cars I'm forced to ride with have a 24m braking distance at 40kph, but let's be honest, there's usually doing over 50kph despite the limit, so it's more like 38-55m

People who have only ever travelled by car in their entire lives.

I haven't personally used it, but a buddy likes it.

Ontarians, I need your help.

This week I was pulled over by the police for having a kid's seat on my e-bike. I was informed this is illegal in Ontario as Sec. 38 of the HTA doesn't allow anyone under the age of 16 to be on a power-assisted or motor assisted bicycle.

In 2021 the Moving Ontarians More Safely Act came out that separated power-assisted bicycles (like e-bikes) from motor assisted bicycles (like dirt bikes). This will finally allow child seats on e-bikes.

Please call your MPP to get this bill that passed and assented 3 years ago into law.

Details on the wording of the current and assented laws:

currently the Highway Traffic Act, section 38, states : "No person who is the owner or is in possession or control of a motor assisted bicycle or power-assisted bicycle shall permit a person who is under the age of 16 years to ride on, drive or operate the motor assisted bicycle or power-assisted bicycle on a highwau"

the Moving Ontarians More Safely Act, 2021, S.O. 2021, C. 26 - Bill 282 splits this into a few sections: "No person under the age of 14 years shall operate a power-assisted bicycle described in clause (a) of the definition" "No person under the age of 16 years shall operate a power-assisted bicycle described in clause (b) or (c)" and the new section 38.1: "No person under the age of 16 years shall ride on, drive or operate a motor assisted bicycle on a highway" From my perspective this will make e-bikes legal to have kids seats; and separate the class away from gas and electric dirt bikes.

Ikea HULTARP rods (lemmy.world)

Ikea's HULTARP rods and hooks can let you store things outside of the kitchen too.

I came up with this solution to stick long, but flat and lightweight, items on the wall in a bathroom.

Edit: note that Ikea has two sizes of HULTRAP hooks, so you might want to get a pack of each while figuring out what works best for your items.

Edit: please excuse the typo. I probably shouldn't use Sunforged as an editor.

Template and the Reverse template for use.
