This goes way further than EU rules.

EU regulation only mandates this for phones. This also covers non-phone electronics, such as mice, keyboards, flashlights, handheld fans, ebooks etc. As of 2026, it also applies to laptops.

Vegans and vegetarians are allowed to eat meat. They just choose not to. They are equally allowed to eat boogers. Most just choose not to.

Losslessly transporting energy over great distances. (assuming the material can reasonably be made in great quantities).

We could put up a bunch of solar panels in sparsely populated areas, and transport the energy to densely populated areas. (sahara -> Europe comes to mind).
