I posted this before... But as a Mod for the Mildly Infuriating And Lemmy Shitposting community; 1 hour before the attack happened I received the following message from the admin that was compromised:

A long with that, yeah I saw that message from a member reposting an image with what appeared to code inside it.

I can't get on Lemmy.World to take a screenshot but I wasn't sure what it was I just removed the comment, but it definitely looked like code injection.

Temporarily defederated from lemmy.world (and lemmy.blahaj.zone) as they seem to be compromised in c/lemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com

If I could hazard a guess. Maybe a login token theft, so the hacker has access to an admins account or multiple.

Saving the important posts, posting the question and answer to lemmy and then deleting those posts imo would be the most optimal solution. At least the information is available somewhere and not punishing people looking for answers to their queries.

Lemmy.World is just not loading anything right now so I'm glad to not be on the overloaded instance!

Lemmy resembles the old reddit experience so well that they even emulate the old reddit server performance in c/showerthoughts@lemmy.world

I have been having alright time with my instance, on Lemmy World instances though I have noticed a big delay in posting, I think it might just be Lemmy.World getting hammered

I think it's good to encourage those who still have reddit accounts to migrate their content over here in anyway they can before deleting their account entirely. They may have content that they can post that would be beneficial to keep but starve that content from reddit.

It's the strongest weapon you can unleash against that cesspit of a platform. New content is being made here daily and it's amazing, but we have a way to go to compete with such a goliath content farm.

I tend to believe things are satire but at the same time I acknowledge with the amount of arrogant control freaks in the world there is a chance it has / will have happened to somebody at some point. Then I feel sad again.
