Good alternative? Hum, I'll have to disagree with you there.

Firstly, Heliboard it is closer to Gboard than to FUTO, which is closer to Swiftkey. Its actually the reason why I went with FUTO, I need that split keyboard.

Secondly, prediction on Heliboard is just not there. Like, at all. It was absolutely maddening to use, it would predict completely unrelated words even when using custom libraries.

And it actually got worse over time because it started saving nonsense words like "GRT" or "hafe" directly onto my personal dictionary. At one point all I would get was nonsense word after nonsense word. I had to abandon it, it was borderline unusable after a certain point.

Like the commenter above, I too want to sponsor FOSS projects as much as possible, but the offers simply aren't quite there yet.

What issues have you found with FUTO? I'm using it RN and beyond Swype being kinda finicky, it works flawlessly.

But yeah, not FOSS. The FOSS keyboard alternatives are indeed atrocious, especially Florisboard which oddly enough seems to be GrapheneOS's favourite option for a future standard keyboard.

Does their final price already include WHOIS protection?

Hey!

For storage/note taking I use Filen.io (German), pretty cool and affordable. Have no complaints, and they have a Linux native app also.

I found OVH quite confusing. Do they upsell you like crazy (e.g. is WHOIS protection an upsell)? I don't want to create an account on purpose just to find out.

Its also what you use if you want to have your domain stolen, apparently.

This is unironically great copywriting. Either that or chatGPT.

I wonder what OP does for a living.

I have a different view.

Have all governments move straight to FOSS federated platforms, so that the billionaire that caused this exodus (Musk) is eaten alive by other billionaires so that they learn that when they fk up, the entire billionaire class loses revenue. So they can experience some class infighting for once instead of laughing all the way to their pedo orgy islands.

If one billionaire's F*ck up leads to another billionaire's increase in fortune (Bluesky), then all you're rewarding is them to keep doing what they do with their manufactured "competition" BS.

There's no such thing as "target" and "non-target" billionaire, either. They all are targets so don't let yourself get distracted.

Seriously. I'd be ashamed of being a Trump supporter and show my face in public. So embarrassing.

And even more so now that it's pretty clear that he's barely sentient and Musk is the actual poorly hidden shadow president.

bluesky

Why? So the same thing can happen as with X? Jack Dorsey is yet another unhinged billionaire with problematic views of his own.

Federation is the only answer.

I understand your fears, I really do.

Its just... I don't think we're totally lost yet, thank God. I'm hoping people keep being somewhat aware that fascism is not the way, even if it's being increasingly promoted on the internet.

Let us do our part as well. Keep boycotting the US, keep protesting against Israel and Russia in public. There is little else we can do, but these things are powerful on their own as long as we don't lose momentum.

I've had few problems in the 7 years I have used them[...] one of which is not possible to get back since I'm required to provide proof that I live in Sweden [...] Wasn't the case when I initially bought it in 2018.

Sounds like a severe case of Stockholm syndrome to me. /s

Anyways, you do you buddy. I don't trust them at all after those reviews. Especially when IONOS exists.

PS: kinda funny that a supposedly privacy-focused registrar demands an official document of your place of residence. Sounds like the promised privacy is just a gimmick (or, something that all registrars offer by default as long as you choose the WhoIS guard option).
