It looks like they put that on negative side of the batt.

Thats a transformer, it's outputting dc power. My main concern is that the batteries are sitting on end like that. They're filled with water, so if there's an air gap at the end the battery is not going to work as well.

It's better to rinse it with hot water. The rinse cycle uses so little water that hot water doesn't make it to the dishwasher if you didn't use any from the sink.

The best idea I can come up with is a federated marketplace. Each vendor has their own instance. Buyers can browse the marketplace and have a unified checkout experience. Vendors would have unified product posts so whichever vendor has the best price or fastest shipping (user preference) would get the sale. USPS for example has shipping zones which determine the price for shipping depending on distance.

The best example I can come up with is rockauto. They are a central marketplace of different auto parts suppliers. You can find parts that are in the same location in order to combine shipping.

If you put a part in your cart it will then show parts that are in the same warehouse.

Bittorrent is federated streaming video before it was cool.

If you have a network of paricipating stores, then they can agree to take each others physical returns and inspect them.

For anyone who doesn't know. I've created !dullsters@dullsters.net if you'd also like to post there.

I created !dull_mens_club@lemmy.world a few months ago and then started seeing contraversies around moderation policies and federation that just don't apply to the type of content on dull mens club so I decided to make an instance solely to host that community.

!dullsters@dullsters.net

I'm not sure if this has happened yet, but I like the idea of having a neutral instance that users can still visit regardless of what happens. There's no user signups, only admin/moderator accounts. Users have to use an account from a federated instance.

I created the popular !dull_mens_club@lemmy.world several months ago.

In the interest of decentralization, I decided to create an independent instance.

!dullsters@dullsters.net

The dull mens club community will stay active, but please visit us at the new one.

The community voted on Wjrii@lemmy.world suggestion of

!dullsters@dullsters.net

The current community here on world will stay open. I have no plans of shutting it down unless the community decides it should.

Thank you all again for creating such a wondetful place,I look forward to seeing the community continue to grow.

I've created a new Lemmy instance at dullsters.net

When I created this community several months ago I had no aspirations of it becoming much of anything. In a short amount of time it has grown to over 1500 subscribers and is one of the top recommended non-political communities. I am always looking forward to the posts that are shared here, and the unique culture being developed.

I see the importance of the decentralized aspect of the Fediverse. We frequently see drama surrounding moderation and federation policies. None of that applies to the content in this community.

I have no qualms with admins running their site the way they want to and they are often placed in difficult positions. However, this is one of the true places of neutrality on the Fediverse and it should remain that way.

In the few months this community has existed there have been maybe a half dozen moderation actions taken. You have remained, for the most part, very dull, and I thank you for that.

The name of the community should be changed, I hadn't realized that dull men's club was the result of someone else's ideas and work. The new name should represent this community that you all have created and the place it exists, The Fediverse.

The new instance won't have any users except for the purpose of moderation, you will still use your account from a federated instance. I'm still ironing out a few wrinkles with the site, it should be done whenever I get around to it.

In the meantime suggestions for the new name should be made in a top level comment so that they can be voted on.

Thank you all once again for making this community what it is.

Do I need to do anything to get emails to send from my lemmy instance? I have the site up and running, but emails won't send. I'm using Digital Ocean as my server provider.

Edit: the issue was cloudflare proxy. If you're using cloudflare for dns, turn off proxying if you're using lets encrypt.

I must be doing something wrong, because when i run the playbook I get an unconfigured nginx page at the ip of my server.

The instruction docs for ansible states:

Do not edit anything inside the {{ }} braces.

https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy-ansible/blob/main/examples/config.hjson

however that config file points to:

Tomorrow (Saturday) will be the December Solstice. The "shortest" day in the northern hemisphere and "longest" day in the southern hemisphere. Although it will be the day with the least amount of light for many of you, it means that each day after will be brighter. For others each day will be shorter, and thus duller. For places near the equator the change will be negligible throughout the year. Of course if you live near either of Earth's poles you will need to wait a few months to see the change.

I wish you all a very dull and uneventful day.

I just like to make other people think there's something maybe a little exciting going on, like an enthusiast meetup or maybe a glitch in the matrix. It gives me a little chuckle.

I'm watching this video: https://youtu.be/2VujUm6K-IU

At times he is working with his hands with the camera directly on front of him while using both hands to work. The camera never moves or gets bumped. In one shot he is hitting something with a hammer. Is he just hugging a tripod carefully? Using a boom? I'm scratching my head.

This is a tad embarrassing. You see, I thought that I was merely copying a popular Facebook group. I was unaware that Dull Men's Club was an official club. Please give the site a peruse as it is quite a delight!
