Human: "We took the second warp core you helped us build and plugged it into the first one, just to see what would happen.... It blew up. But we got to do some pretty cool science in the process!"

Vulcan looking on in pure astonishment

Vulcan: "Fascinating. You were meant to place that in another ship, or study it for improving your own designs."

Human: "yeah, crazy huh... Can we have another?"

Vulcan: arches eyebrow "Very well."

I can go to my individual comments and check the scores, but I like that I can't see any cumulative score. I'm a sucker for "number go up" games.

Lemmy isn't a competition.

Well, I'm not a primary target, but if I see someone rolling up on my street trying to force people into a vehicle against their will, I'm definitely grabbing my rifle and preventing a kidnapping.

They may not be coming for me yet, but I sure as fuck am not waiting until they do.

Honestly I think they're just waiting for people to fight back so they can justify lethal force from then on, "as a precaution"

Person 1: "this thing isn't possible"

Person 2: it is, and I have experienced it myself.

Person 3: "yeah but here is a list of reasons I just made up why your experience doesn't matter"

The first comment was not saying "after long enough time certain drives do this/hardware degrades/won't run in modern machines", they were blanket stating "no storage lasts beyond 2-3 years"

no storage drive on the planet last more than two to three years

I'll tell that to the laptop HDD I pulled out of a laptop last month that hasn't turned on since 2018 and copied a large portion of the data so my mother can have old family photos she forgot to transfer.

I'm positive there are issues somewhere on it, since radiation is a thing and the HDD case isn't 6ft of lead. I just didn't encounter any with the 50-60gb I transferred.

On a long enough timescale, sure. But not a couple years for HDDs at least.

It happens. I've definitely read a sentence, took it the wrong way, and only after rereading it later on (usually when someone responds to my comment) that I was incorrect.

I don't see anyone shitting on younger generations.

All I see is someone expressing what many in the younger generation are feeling. Like everything the older generations faced is happening again. Like the world is on fire and everyone is pretending it's fine. And they're wondering why nobody is as concerned as they are.

In other words, "WTAF is going on?!?!"

Nah, I know for a fact 2/3 of my kills were luck, and the other 1/3 is new players.

I know for a fact I'm opinionated, and don't have problems sharing them.

Please, by all means, block me if you think seeing my comments is adversely affecting you. I'd rather be ignored by someone than make their day worse (unless they're actively trying to make others miserable, but that's a separate discussion)

The fediverse has definitely gotten a little less hostile after blocking a few things.

And remember you can jump ship to another instance at any time! I've hopped a few times but for now my instance is filling my needs without much drama that I am aware of.

Kim and Torres were guests of the Ocampa, and Kess knew how to get in and out of the shielded area. The Kazon were in the area but not directly involved yet.

So by beaming her up immediately, they would have had far more time available to do thing.

Now, whether they ask the right questions quickly enough to get in and out of the caves/cracks Kess got out through, who's to say.

Either way, if I recall correctly, the kazon knew not to fuck with the Caretakers station, so while I'm sure they would eventually have tested it to see if anyone was still home, it wouldn't have been as quick.

Ultimately I believe if Neelix had been truthful, the crew would have had enough time to figure out how to send themselves back to the alpha quadrant, and possibly been smart enough to set spatial charges to blow it up soon after they left to make sure the kazon don't get their hands on it.
