Agreed. Anyone who takes this approach needs to do what Randi did - put their money where their mouth is.

Assuming AI doesn’t just flame out (which seems unlikely at this point) I think the author’s main point - that traffic always shifts to the expensive SOTA model when it’s released - may eventually slow down. Shifting from gpt 3.5 to 4 was necessary, because 3.5 was basically useless. The shift from 4 to 4.5 was less amazing, and from 4.5 to 5 will probably be meh, so aside from trying it out many people will probably be fine staying on the cheaper models - especially if the AI companies continue bifurcating them with ones for “research”, others for coding, others for creative, etc.

I live in South Florida, which has a climate not too different from Singapore. We normally have to scrub down north facing walls and windowsills every years anyway, since the mildew growth is real. it doesn’t really cause any harm though.

He could try hooking up with Snoop Dogg. That would probably change my opinion somewhat (not that I’d expect Snoop to be into Nazis)

Still be really nice. It’s usually not too much effort, but is always appreciated, especially by those who need that niceness the most.

Ah but if they did use screen then they could fork multiple shells, detach, log out, log in again and everything would be as they left it.

They’re the same picture.

I would have picked one of the many garbage US cars from the "heydey" of the 60s/70s, maybe a Chevette or a Vega. There's no shortage of US lemons to choose from.

Better a little polyethylene than a pork tapeworm larva lodged in my brain, I always say.

There will be a follow up bill called Act to Mandate Aggressive Zero-Exception Bans on Anonymous Login & Secure Networks that makes VPNs, TOR, etc illegal. I think they’re working on it in the UK already.

Kelly and Zach Weinersmith (of SMBC, Soonish and other fame) wrote about this topic in their recent book A City On Mars (and have we really thought this through?). There’s a non-zero chance that there will hot wars on earth over utterly useless land and resources in space that we either have no chance of using or no need to monopolize.

Duh. The bears live in bear land (arctic as in arctus as in bear). Penguins thus literally live in no bear land (ant-arctic).
