I would reccomend XMPP(with OMEMO), for android I reccomend the conversations client, but there are a lot of clients: https://xmpp.org/software/?platform=all-platforms I suggest you choose a client that fully supports OMEMO encryption.
check out https://soatok.blog/2025/01/14/dont-use-session-signal-fork/ and https://soatok.blog/2025/01/20/session-round-2/ . session doesn't even have PFS(perfect forward secrecy), whichbcan be very useful, sonfi a key is cracked, then only a few messages can be decrypted.
same here, I use invidious!
I use nushell btw, but I do agree fish autocompletions are the best!
and with an internet connection required(good luck entering your wifi password without a keyboard)
yeaj, but the app only supports openai, you can't just switch to a local ai.
so, GSI is just android with fast updates and the possibility to only have foss or have no apps? that's not what I need, I want a system with microg or nothing instead of google services, only foss apps but ideally no apps preinstalled(that, GSI can do) and also privacy features like microphone and camera blocking. I think I'll just use lineage, or install a real linux on it.
that's a good thing, if you host it on your own instance.
ok who the heck uses windows servers? I don't think even microsoft does.
I perfectly agree, RSS has always worked, and is federated, in a better way than even activitypub, as pretty much each podcast is on the servers of the owners, and that the clients do the aggregation.
if you want to actually rethink your network stack, then use reticulum, and ifnyou just mean use TCP/IP but change stuff that's around it then well idk.
