Early 2000 wants its internet back

Look at openAI trying to switch to a forprofit. It's hard to imagine signal surviving for longer especially that it is hemorrhaging a shit load of money and donations aren't enough to keep it afloat

Nowadays it's mostly college kids trying to add something to their resume. And it's all note taking apps

Yes a fediverse version of Instagram. It relies on the activity pub protocol under the hood. Which makes it possible for example to follow like and comment to a pixelfed account from a mastodon account if you have one.

The fediverse has had a very low retention rate. My bet is that after a year MAU will come down to 60k. That is if meta doesn't embroil itself in another controversy.

What most Linux advocates hate to admit is that the abundance of distributions discourages software makers from supporting Linux. Because then they will have to deal with bugs specific to each distribution, desktop environment, window manager, x.org or Wayland, and thousands of other variables. Imagine having to spin up a different virtual environment for each use case. It's a nightmare that isn't worth it for them.

There are a few GUI programs that let you do that without ever having to interact with the cmd or run a script. + a lot of GUIs are self explanatory and come with a lot of guardrails to not let you mess with your system.

To be real Linux is far from ready to be an all in all viable alternative to windows.

The fact that it has a hundred desktops. An absence of major software like ms office. Adobe and autodesk suites, and not being able to avoid the command line when shit hits the fan. Will make users choose to purchase new hardware rather than make the jump.

I bet Linux will make a 2% after win 10 end of support.

Ads free but with ads ! So words included in a contract don't carry the same meaning as in the dictionary ?

Very bad razors. They Never fail to leave cuts and bruises

Any news on why this is happening with this instance ? it might be harder to check if upvotes and downvotes federate to the outside lemmyverse .

other instances seem to federate better.

Don't the instance owners use it ?

Have you ever been scared or hesitant about reporting flaws or bugs to a community with a strong staunch fanbase ??

Obviously there are different ways of reporting and starting discussions, but I brought up the courage to report a flaw on a subreddit (not to be named) that I knew is very sensitive to criticisme, and I was flooded with downvotes and even was subject to gaslighting, so I gave up on that software and became even more hesitant about reporting problems on other FOSS communities .

Is this mindset very prevalent among all open source communities? have you faced something similar ?
