I got a Sharp Android smart tv last year when my 2006 Samsung died and it works great without internet access. Cheapest one there was.

"Why does my fucking light not turn on, do i need to add yet another repeater or do i need to reset slzbw-06 yet again" kind of problems

Also at some point i discovered nothing at all works because homeassistant decided to give my network a new identity so I needed to pair everything again. My fault for not having this backed up, but it's not something that should happen in a system that's "worry free".

Zigbee sucks and is a source of constant problems for me, but you can't have a thumb sized door sensor using wifi, it uses too much energy.

Something p2p like Tox or Briar, both annoying for daily use.

There are so many cameras on the market, just don't connect them to the internet. If you have a budget, buy an NVR, otherwise install Motion or Frigate on a PC to store footage.

The main Mastodon instance with their official app has discoverability. The difference is so much different from what I normally use - a 3rd party app and a 3rd party instance
