Try FSF and FSFE for free software recommendations. And searching for specific software categories and adding "open source". Generally works fine for me. Also, a good site to find FOSS alternatives to software is: https://alternativeto.net/

Solid recommendations. I love OpenMW and possibly GZdoom with mods and maps even more. For more on Doom see moddb.com for mods, maps for Doom II etc. Be warned - when you start it's hard to stop again 🙂

Instead of going to blogs, YouTube, podcast etc. you subscribe to them and feetch news from them via RSS in a web or local client. IMHO the way things should work 🙂

I think Nextcloud is an easy option. Lots of dedicated FOSS WebDav servers out there. For CardDav and CalDav (Contacts and calendar) I rembember that Radicale is recommended: https://radicale.org/v3.html

Agree. Currently using EU hosted Nextcloud, with plans of self hosting. Also getting into PhoneTrack which seems as a neat and privacy respecting way of sharing location.

Also use nvim and love it. Not vim as the title says.

KISS is the best launcher. Fast and light.
