Hello fellow CD collectors!

I was hoping to make a megathread for the community containing a bunch of useful CD information and links. If you have any links of info regarding CDs, where to buy them, how to listen to, burn, rip and look after them, or even just general tips that could be thrown in then please let me know :D

The vinyl release is just the original album. No extra songs, no extra disc with live performances. But vinyl is 20 bucks more though!

Why not? A soothing sunday spin.

Recently grabbed this Nick Cave double album Abattoir Blues / Lyre of Orpheus from my local Goodwill. Totally random and completely out of left field from the stuff I typically see on the shelves there.

I first found stereo sushi 5, and after another record shopping, I found the first edition! Beautiful deep house sounds, that has hidden gems. I found Odesza for 2 euros, so I just bought it, cool and lovely album. Searching for new music, out of electronic, pop etc, I found Bloom by Areni Agbabian, a very beautiful album, with amazing sound quality.

They’re not kidding. 26 discs of In the court of the crimson king by King Crimson. This thing is absolutely massive!

Or so the seller says anyway. Glad to have them in my collection either way.

Tbh I haven't listened to them before buying. When I saw this fairly obscure genre in the Discogs shop of a local record store, I just had to buy them.

I hope my new hi-fi system arrives soon.

From left to right, top to bottom:

  • Trova de Lid - Lira De Dragón

  • Tomes Of Tristis - The Stone Heart Saga Vol. 1

  • Archana - In The Hall Of Relics

  • Dame Silú De Mordomoire - A World Of Shadows

  • Isegrimm - Eislandsaga

  • Pflanzenglück - Ancient Ode To Nature

I did visit the record store, and I found staring into the space by silicone soul, which was in my wishlist for long time now. A little bit more searching and felt over kings of disco, compiled by Dimitri from Paris and Joey Negro, with some amazing disco songs. And of course, I couldn't resist but buy Ian Pooley Meridian, a beautiful house downtempo album.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like whomever owned it last took good care of it. The jewel case is a little broken at the bottom hinge and when it arrived in the mail the CD was not attached to the spindle in the middle. Still, it ripped nicely with EAC :)

I’ll plug in a usb disc drive to import them when I’m feeling less lazy.

For couple months now, I wanted to buy the house collection volume 4, until I found it being sold in my country, and so I grabbed it! Not the best condition, but the CD`s play fine.

Alister`s mix, was what made buy this cd mainly(outstanding selection of music and mixing), but Jeremy did a amazing mix too.

I have a hard time figuring out which CD packaging I prefer over the other. Digipaks generally offer a premium print that can look better but is more easily damaged and worn. Jewel cases on the other hand are brittle and can become easily damaged as well, plus it can be difficult to remove the included booklet/cover and read it.

This CD was in my binder but I can't seem to find it anywhere via search. Any ideas?

ETA: Almost certainly TPN out of Cottage Grove, MN

A couple of old favorites for 10 bucks.

CD/BD and a bonus LP. Two bands I really love.

Someone had offloaded this lot to the secondhand store so I scooped them up.

Kites new album (actually a collection of their EPs) and 2 Dinosaur jr, a Daft Punk and an Earache compilation. My tastes vary.

I love that cds are so cheap nowadays.

In case you can't tell, I like indie rock.

The CD's digital files are mislabeled in the same way and also have strange typos with the composers' names, such as Mike Harrison's name being written "Harrisøn" and Jimmy Henshaw's name being written "HEN$HAW". It's disappointing that this obscure and overlooked group will likely have their last release of content marred by these errors.
