I almost hate to ask this since it's come up so much already, but what's with the Dragon Rider drama? Like what's going on

We have new members because of people fleeing, I'm seeing communities being archived, and just generally more than the regular Reddit being Reddit.

Has the end come in some way?

Seriously, what’s the significance of the word? There are many teens in my neighborhood, as well as me having a teenage sister, who laugh hysterically at the word.

Some people will respond with “Wanna know what else is massive?” Is this a sex joke or something?

[I live in the US now but grew up where many people did not speak English so I may not understand jokes that well even if my parents are English speakers.]

Edit: Looks like it’s from someone called Ninja. https://knowyourmeme.com/memes/ninjas-massive-you-know-what-else-is-massive

I am a self proclaimed wiki-phile, I always donated when I could. It was kind of like going to the library without the fresh book smell.

I've heard Reddit is setting themselves up for another major fumble and that it relates to how much Spez is a fanboy of Elon Musk.

I can't find any details on the drama playing out though. Can someone explain the details of what's going on?

I would love to see Lemmy grow with another big "Rexxit" event, but I'm not seeing anything happening to cause one.

There's the whole TikTok thing, talk about EV cars, and now DeepSeek. I know I've heard my own stuff too, but I want to see what other people are hearing and seeing?

In one case, the same spot in the Gulf of Mexico was labelled "Reclaimed People's Climate Mao Museum".

Did I miss something?

I saw a meme about something of fake frames, but i don't know what happened.

I'm sure some political talk will be unavoidable but I'd like to keep this dry and to the point if we could.

Title says it all. I see a lot of chatter, but what's going on?

I see literally nothing but memes and tweet screenshots. An overview of what happened would really help fill me in

Seen a lot of memes about it, no idea what's going on.

So I thought that BlueSky was set up just like Lemmy in that it was fully decentralized into a sort of "terrorist cell" structure that wasn't focused on profits, but then found out that BlueSky has a CEO. Since this is a business, what makes BlueSky fundamentally different from Twitter or Instagram?

I feel like so long as a social media platform exists through monetization (in some form or another private companies need to make money), we are ultimately replacing one dictator with another.

I'm aware of the url mishap with the dolls and vaguely aware of the poster controversy but I've also seen people online call it a PR disaster and I'm entirely out of the loop on that

Is the word Halloween not acceptable anymore?

I saw the apology statement and the original tweet but I'm genuinely confused about what people are mad about?

Especially mad enough to make a fork of the Godot engine?

I did watch This video from Games From Scratch but he barely gives any actual information about what people are mad about. The most information I got is that a joke tweet was made and a non-affiliated moderator went a little overboard.

What am I missing here? What's got everyone so upset?

How likely or close are we to another pandemic? What would be the most likely government responses?
