If you find an injured owl:
Note your exact location so the owl can be released back where it came from. Contact a licensed wildlife rehabilitation specialist to get correct advice and immediate assistance.
Minimize stress for the owl. If you can catch it, toss a towel or sweater over it and get it in a cardboard box or pet carrier. It should have room to be comfortable but not so much it can panic and injure itself. If you can’t catch it, keep people and animals away until help can come.
Do not give food or water! If you feed them the wrong thing or give them water improperly, you can accidentally kill them. It can also cause problems if they require anesthesia once help arrives, complicating procedures and costing valuable time.
If it is a baby owl, and it looks safe and uninjured, leave it be. Time on the ground is part of their growing up. They can fly to some extent and climb trees. If animals or people are nearby, put it up on a branch so it’s safe. If it’s injured, follow the above advice.

I did a 50 State of Owls early on, and that was the start of my owl mega-feed. Some states seemed very limited though. It was kind of sad seeing some large but low population states having hardly any resources I could find. So many animals are probably unable to be served.
We did add some databases in the sidebar to try to help, but as many are small 1 or 2 person operations and come and go all the time due to there being no funding, so it's a tough job to maintain any up to date list, but it's the best I could find. A quick google of "my_city wild animal rescue" is probably your best bet.
Maye be "Sponsor a State Wildlife Rescue" day or recurring theme where someone picks a state and shows what's there rescue wise (or maybe even preservation wise or protected land wise?).
You could post it like a quesiton and see if anyone has any info. There's often at least some gap between rescue projects and the web. Maybe people know of one somehow and want to highlight it. I dunno. Just a thought :)
I've pointed out a few places to people, but most (understandably) don't want to give out their locations.
I'm sure I've already doxxed myself many times over on here repping my local animal places, and talking about school district drama during all the Mothers for Liberty school takeovers we had. Not the best job for someone with an "anon" name, but this was supposed to just last a couple days while I lurked and didn't post. Whoops.
I'd like yoooooou guys to do some of the sharing your local animal helpers, but again, I know that runs into the same issues. You could pick a place where you have distant relatives or like to vacation at or something thoooooough... 😜
Exactly. That's why I'm thinking "Sponsor a State". If you have personal knowledge of a rescue - any rescue - call it out. Maybe you went there, maybe you drove by, maybe you know a guy who knows a guy - whatever.
Ah, now I gotcha. wink wink
