Links must be to the original source, not an aggregator like Google Amp, MSN, or Yahoo.

Example:

  1. Articles must be relevant to politics. Links must be to quality and original content. Articles should be worth reading. Clickbait, stub articles, and rehosted or stolen content are not allowed. Check your source for Reliability and Bias here.
  2. Be civil, No violations of TOS. It’s OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It’s NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). 4. Vote based on comment quality, not agreement. This community aims to foster discussion; please reward people for putting effort into articulating their viewpoint, even if you disagree with it.

All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

That's all the rules!

We'd really like it if you guys did something about this.

[–] silence7@slrpnk.net 19 points 4 hours ago (2 children)

The problem is a what to actually do. Congress and the courts are controlled by people who largely agree with Project 2025. Most of the American public has no clue that it's a real thing, and thinks it's so out there that anybody telling them about it is on LSD and not credible.

[–] BeNotAfraid@lemmy.world 15 points 4 hours ago (3 children)

You mean to tell me, that in America. Where you can legally acquire, a genuine, US Army certified Rocket-Propelled Grenade from a gun show in Vegas for cash..... you guys can't think of what to actually do?

Zoinks Scoob, I think I'm getting a clue.

The vast majority of the people who would actually fight on the right side of history have been thoroughly pacified by the rhetoric that using a weapon would be unacceptably barbaric, and that if you can't make the change you want with words, you're just not finding the right words. We'll be holding quippy signs and chanting about justice even as the country literally crumbles around us.

a lot of people think it'll only take a few hungry days for an uprising, but i don't think they realize that's exactly the plan. this is actually scary. the lack of fifth column pushback, the bending-over from major universities.. these are all really clear indicators that what's going on right now isn't just some old, crazy dude spouting shit.

[–] gravitas_deficiency@sh.itjust.works 2 points 30 minutes ago (1 children)

That’s what’s insane to me too. I thought for sure some general staff level officer, someone in the admiralty, sone old hands from the alphabet agencies, or some combination thereof would be like “he’s going to fucking kill us all. It’s time to color outside the lines”.

And yes, I know I’m basically saying that I’m holding out for a coup. But let’s be real: I’d trust the competence and compassion of any one of those groups an order of magnitude more than the people actually running the show at this point.

[–] toy_boat_toy_boat@lemmy.world 1 points 21 minutes ago

i'm sorry, but i can't be funny right now. i usually try to joke about stuff, but here goes. if you are american and you're NOT currently trying to kill the guy who just tried to declare himself king of your democracy, then i just don't know what else to say to you.

[–] silence7@slrpnk.net 3 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

I stand on my own and fire a weapon is pretty useless. To actually succeed, I need a lot more people on my side. Enough that we could probably impeach and remove those responsible for this mess.

[–] BeNotAfraid@lemmy.world 2 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago) (1 children)

True, but it doesn't take much, congress might be more inclined to step in with some percussive maintenance.

Also, monkey see, monkey do. You know?

[–] silence7@slrpnk.net 0 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

When you stand on your own you don't accomplish much beyond your own death. That's not a worthwhile move for me.

Jesus was a martyr, so was my favourite Mario Brother.

Problem:

The people who have argued hardest for the ability to buy things like that and actually do it and have hoarded the weapons already are the racists

So if we try an unorganized attack of any kind, we give the insane motherfuckers who want Red Dawn to happen a reason to start unloading. I've personally seen some of what these crazies have stockpiled, that is not a can you want to open

We're basically fucked on using weapons until those guys are hurting enough to be on our side, which might be too late to matter, anyway

Ukrainians stood up to what was thought to be the second strongest military in the world at the time, with little more than styrofoam and gasoline.

And if they kill all the workers and soldiers who will be left to fight their wars and make their goods?

[–] gamermanh@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 hour ago (1 children)

thought

Pretty key word there. Also: US military is significantly bigger than the next few in line combined, another good reason a revolution isn't simple. Oh, and we're fuckin huge with large spaces of nothing, which is another problem

And if they kill all the workers and soldiers who will be left to fight their wars and make their goods?

The large chunk of people who actively support the facism & their offspring

[–] walktheplank@lemmy.world 0 points 1 hour ago

Ok. Well I guess we will see you in Canada when they press you into service.

[–] silence7@slrpnk.net 1 points 2 hours ago (2 children)

That was standing against an outside invader. Americans don't have the same luxury.

[–] BeNotAfraid@lemmy.world 1 points 2 hours ago

We can all see it's Russia, if that helps.

[–] walktheplank@lemmy.world 0 points 2 hours ago* (last edited 2 hours ago)

Seem to have lots of excuses though. To each their own I suppose. My country will stand up with less. I'll be one of those doing it should it come to pass.

Stop going to work. Everyone. Stop paying your bills and taxes. Everyone. Collapse the economy from the inside. If even only those that voted against the regime did, it would make a massive difference to so many businesses large and small. Hit em I the money. That and aggression are all they understand. Doing little to nothing isn't gonna work out for anyone.
