2012 was supposed to be the end of the world. Maybe the mayans decided it wasn’t worth watching after that season.

The Mayans didn't have a working understanding of multiverse theory, their predictions didn't account for the existence of The Bad Timeline (also it was an end of an era thing, not an end of the world thing)
