Lazily crossing out bits of normal words in a clear bid to increase comment count/engagement metrics to boost a post is on a sharp and marked rise on Lemmy. Do we need to have a more active hand in removing these posts to keep discussions from getting polluted? It’s really quite tedious to see it happening so often.

I suspect the meme has likely been pulled from elsewhere else (looking at you, Meta) and posted as-is with specific words remaining partially censored because of the Zucc. It’s stupid, but the meme might not exist in another format.

This is the most likely reason. While I die a little each time it comes up as a reminder of how much of the internet is sanitized in the stupidest possible ways, at least the half assed way means I can still easy read whatever was 'censored' to appease the sanitation departments.
