In a post on X, the committee says it has awarded Maria Corina Machado the Nobel Peace Prize "for her tireless work promoting democratic rights for the people of Venezuela and for her struggle to achieve a just and peaceful transition from dictatorship to democracy".

I expect Donald Trump will write an angry social media post about this, claiming that he should have won.

Good for her!

I'm also so extremely excited to hear of Trump having a stroke (another one...) as a result of this news

I was hoping the Nobel Committee would give the Peace Prize to Obama again, that would have been the most likely way to provoke a stroke.

Giving it to a Venezuelan seems like the next best thing, though.

Wishful thinking, but I can always hope!

I'm sure Trump will be mature, generous and gracious about this, and send out a diplomatic statement congratulating the winner...

The White House's communications director says the "Nobel Committee proved they place politics over peace" in response to the announcement of the winner.

In a post on X, Steven Cheung writes that US President Donald Trump "will continue making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives".

The president "has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with the sheer force of his will".

Trump had been gunning to win the award, and many of his supporters campaigned alongside him, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Steven Cheung is a cancer. That anyone so presumably in control of his mental faculties should debase themselves so thoroughly for such a demented rapist such that their lives are a constant trough of bootlicking and asinine claims no one in their right mind would believe - it's sick.

Yeah I found that tweet here. Here's an image for people who don't want to visit that link to X:

A tweet from the White House Director of Communications, Steven Cheung. He is responding to a tweet naming the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize winner, Maria Corina Machado. Cheung writes: "President Trump will continue making peace deals, ending wars, and saving lives. He has the heart of a humanitarian, and there will never be anyone like him who can move mountains with the sheer force of his will. The Nobel Committee proved they place politics over peace."
