Yeah the original Tron was filled with a sense of wonder and spirit, I suppose it was a different time and all that tech was shiny (or rather grey) and new and not being used to oppress people quite yet at least on a massive scale, but it seems like they just went so cliche cyberpunk with it. I've been a fan of NIN since Pretty Hate Machine but tbh their soundtrack work sounds all pretty dark and foreboding and samey.
I guess you have a point. In the very words of the President of the United States of America: "Everything's computer."
