This is for strictly mildly interesting material. If it's too interesting, it doesn't belong. If it's not interesting, it doesn't belong.
This is obviously an objective criteria, so the mods are always right. Or maybe mildly right? Ahh.. what do we know?

It's crazy to me Haribo is still making their gums from animal bones. Their competition in Germany (Katjes) is winning so much market from them.
What do you mean still? That’s where gelatin comes from…
I think it's just best if you ignore their vegan bullshit
Where does the hate come from? I never told you, you need to live vegan. All I am saying is producing a product without animals where it is possible is a good thing.
Exactly and it can easily be replaced
If it could be easily replaced then capitalism would have already replaced it…
I've a feeling gelatin is just cheaper because it's a byproduct of the meat industry. We're not killing animals just for the jelly, so they either put it in sweets or it goes in the bin.
This is 100% the case and the point I was making.
Easily is not the same thing as profitable.
In this case it is. The alternative is that you and the other commenter actually think that everybody should have to pay more because you believe that gummies shouldn’t be made from gelatin.
I'm not talking about what I believe, I'm talking about how capitalism actually works.
Not everybody needs vegan gummy bears?
And haribo has halal offerings.
If you can make a product with our without animals and it tastes the same, is it a bad thing to prefer the vegan option? I don't tell anybody what to eat, if you like to eat meat I am fine with that.
Does it taste the same? I've tried Katjes and I'm pretty sure it tastes different. I will of course agree with you that for two equivalent tasting products, it's better to prefer the vegan option even as a meat eater.
Tbh, as a vegetarian I haven't eaten Haribo a lot in the last 10 years, rarely one of those small gift gold bear packages. I think they taste kind of boring, on the other hand they wake up childhood memories. The selection of Katjes is super large in Germany with a lot of variation. I like them a lot and don't find them particularly better or worse than Haribo. If you find them I would say try them out!
Oh they only have like one or two flavours here in Estonia. If they even still sell 'em. It's sad.
You do you. And that's totally okay.
As for me: I couldnt care less as long as it tastes good.
But I would also accept synthetic gelatine based gummy bears as well.
I usually get kosher/halal Haribo when I see them.
Hah, they make a lot from animal skin as well.
They make the other sort too.
They literally have a line of vegan ones. .....and Katjes is actually is not doing that well, btw.
How come? From what I find Katjes is doing very well.

I've never heard of it.
I don't really like Haribo gummies anyway. Not a patch on Wine Gums or Fruit Pastilles.
I was going to recommend Percy Pigs, but it turns out they're also made by Katjes.
They sell kosher Haribos in areas near me with more Jewish people
Honestly it was rough to get through them but that's just cuz I got caps in my back teeth. I was able to do with my canines though
