Soooo. I was banned for telling a extreme right wing dickhead that he was an asshole. Yeah I shouldn't have but whatever. (yes I've appealed it and failed)

Now all my sub accounts are also banned.

Is the only way to evade the ban to dodge your online fingerprint? (new phone, new email, new ph number. Etc)

I read it's just IP based but my flat has 3 others that use reddit daily and they are fine so surely it's device ID and email linked to device. Etc

Sorry to ask here guys but it's wracking my brain.

How are they differentiating me from my flatmates if it's not IP based - bar my device and email? Is it as far as how I talk? The things I'm interested in? Sheesh. Was the only form of social media I indulged in.

Edit: don't get me wrong but hell if I still get banned after a new phone new email. Etc then eh I guess I'll just accept it.

It's possible that their accounts were grandfathered in and already marked as "different people". During the next little while (the exact period is unknown, but let's say 6 months), any new accounts from that IP may get banned, but especially those that are deemed "suspicious".

We don't know the exact details because Reddit doesn't release the details. You might find someone here who can tell you about workarounds, but most likely you'll get the advice to move on and find something new. Most people are here because they no longer want to use Reddit, and I'd say the vast majority is here because they chose to leave and not because of bans

they often use browser fingerprinting and getting various device settings. it turns out that just by looking at various configurations and such, you can actually track individuals
