Decorating a bedroom and found water damage to the window sill... could be a leak around the frame or some old damage from a window being left open in the past allowing driving rain in. Until I get it off (today's job) and inspect underneath, I can't tell. Could be a void in the cavity allowing some condensation below the sill... Can remedy that easily enough with some gap filler expanding foam.
Ordered a nice oak board to replace it (old one was cheap MDF), and will reseal around the frame... and hope that fixes the issue. Can't finish the painting until the new board is in early next week (got a joiner friend coming to do it and the new skirting/architrave)
Then went away for 4 days from Thurs to Sun. House and dog sitting for my sister as her doggo is 13yrs old and struggling with arthritis and pancreatitis. Can't really be lifted in and out of the car, so easier for us to go there than stress him out bringing him to us. Still got to walk him down to the beach a few times and then let him sleep/rest most of the day... and as she lives in an old blacksmiths forge converted to a cottage with modern extension at the back... they rely on a wood burner for a lot of the heat this time of year, so we relaxed in front of a nice warm fire every evening with a beer and a movie.
Weather was utter shite... perfect for snuggling up on the sofa in front of the fire, but still managed to go out a couple of times... mainly to get some fresh air even thought there was heavy rain and strong winds... and stop for lunch somewhere, even if it was just for coffee and cake overlooking the sea.
A lovely relaxing end to what was turning into an annoying and expensive week... decorating rooms in this house always throws up some extra annoyances where builders or previous owners cut corners or bodged things So 30% of each DIY job is fixing the screw ups.
Hope your week was better.
