My understanding is that being 'woke' is just kind of not being an asshole to people.
Elon is basically saying, it's funnier to be an asshole to people.
Here's a tip. Don't be an asshole to people. The joke is never worth it.
Woke is not a new term.

My friend said some stuff about "wokeness" the other day but when I explained the origin (which I described as simply being aware of the many injustices of the system) he paused and said, "...shit, I guess I'm woke"

Has changed over the years though. Today it’s probably more like “anything which does not adhere to a strict conservative Christian nationalist agenda” which includes but is not limited to awareness of racial injustice.
