My guess is yes. If they are important enough to be taken there odds are they would be more valuable for negotiation. They are waaay less useful in a body bag

Some were just transferred out. No doubt some people died there, and it will be decades (if ever) before the civilian population finds out the whole truth, but some people are still alive and accounted for.
IMO this isn't really a good fit for this community. There's elements here that are relevant (it's about the USA, it's a question designed to spark discussion), but about more serious matters than we're really aiming for here. I'd say !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world is a better fit.
