Whenever I see this meme I can't work out if the person made this meme is really media literate or quite dim. Oh course we're in the middle of the diagram all those bits of media are analysing and critiquing aspects of the world we live in. That's kind of the entire point.

OK, but.. do you also breathe air and need nutrients to survive??? I thought not!

Right?

Like yea we’re starting to take some of that shit maybe a little more literally than when it came out but it’s still all just a bunch of mirrors.

I love the idea but I think the categories can be improved.

The four axes are future tech, all-powerful government, everyone defending the system and actively participating, and street violence.

I also didn't realize until I did this that this 4-way Venn diagram is incomplete. It's not able to represent the 2-way combinations from opposite sides:

  • Blade Runner = Gattaca + The Lottery
  • V for Vendetta = 1984 + A Clockwork Orange

Edit: Made some revisions for increased accuracy

"Of course, the book does not contain any hints on how to win the lottery. It is, rather, a chilling tale of conformity gone mad."

"Aww!"

I was going to say I see no rhyme or reason in the original. I like yours.

I am inordinately pleased and proud of myself for how well the different categories work out, for particular works being blended combinations of elemental individual works. 😃

You really need to keep Brave New World in there.

[–] PhilipTheBucket@ponder.cat 1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

It's in there. It's one of the nigh-unreadable ones, tech + powerful dystopian government + people generally loving and supporting the system.

This is going to be fun isn’t it?

[–] ouRKaoS@lemmy.today 1 points 1 week ago

...and now I have my reading list for the next year!

[–] nick@midwest.social 25 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Shit, not far off.

At least in Logan’s run Jessica 6 was there. I’ve had the hots for her since I saw this movie at age 8

IDK all I see is Aubrey Plaza

[–] BroBot9000@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

Ahh the wood pulp drinking propagandist

[–] immutable@lemm.ee 5 points 1 week ago

Until orgy porgy houses start popping up, I’m calling bullshit on brave new world.

[–] kemsat@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

Maybe they should stop writing them books & stop giving them ideas!

[–] Kyrgizion@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

But I don't want to be.

[–] 1984@lemmy.today 1 points 1 week ago

Just knowing all these movies and books in the picture makes us different from most i guess.
