Yep the pedestrian is the problem in this scenario. 😐 FWIW I bike in high-vis gear, I've died like 13 times. We bend over backwards to prove what the problem is: motor vehicles. Fuck cars.

So either get run over by one type of car or by the other, perfect.
I'm glad IIHS did that: pushing higher standards is always great, so some time in the near future we may see these tests as a part of a standard suite. The test on 3 cars is just a proof of concept: we see 2 of them failing miserably, but it doesn't mean even most of them do, deeper analysis is needed, with more makes and models involved. And it's an important test even if we remove cars from the cities: even in public transportation utopia we will still have unlit out-of-town highways, and it's a good thing to have pedestrians and bikers safe there. Even with separated paths, we will still have crosswalks.
Carry a rifle. That'll get you noticed. And if it doesn't, a couple of well-aimed shots sure as shit will.

Yeah, I know. But when your life is in danger, municipalities cater to vehicles, and drivers don’t care whether you live or die, your options are limited.
LOL. I saw a video of a guy (don't know where) who has an "armed cyclist" shirt with a shit ton of lights and reflective stickers all over his bike. I'm sure nobody close passes him now!
