My PTO is earned. I'll use it when I please.

Oh, now I get the joke.

You're using PTO for a death in the family?

[–] superweeniehutjrs@lemmy.world 1 points 3 minutes ago

Nope, but I don't have to fake a death to take a couple days.

I think most any full time job in the US has bereavement leave.

It's only the poorest of the poors that get absolutely fucked, as is tradition.

I myself have to use PTO for it. So...

This depends a lot on if your employer is good or not. I get 20 days bereavement leave per year for close family (spouse, kids, parents) and 10 days for extended family (grandparents)

Yes, but what about second PTO?

[–] qarbone@lemmy.world 9 points 21 hours ago

You get second PTO?

Thanks to divorce & remarriage, I used to have 8 living people that I considered grandparents, plus a few more that I guess could've also been considered grandparents, but they were estranged and I never met them. If everyone is divorced and remarried, I think you could claim up to 16 grandparents!

yeah, i knew most other kids didn't have five grandpas but that's what I grew up with so it doesn't seem unusual to me.
