Rules

AI Art: While we appreciate AI generated art, there are more appropriate communities to post that type of art to. Please keep posts to non-AI generated art only. This rule includes AI art that was then manually manipulated (e.g. drawing on top of something generated by AI).

Nudity: Nudity is and has always been a part of art, but it may be something that some users don't wish to see or cannot view in certain circumstances (e.g. at work). If your work contains nudity, please mark it as NSFW. Work that contains nudity that is not marked as NSFW will be taken down. As long as the NSFW tag is used, we welcome nude subject matter.

Spam: Please do not spam this community. Self promotion is fine if you just want people to be aware of your work, but blatant attempts at spam will result in the past being removed and possibly a ban. If you aren't sure if what you are posting is spam, please contact the moderator first.

Conduct: Be nice, and don't be a jerk. Constructive criticism is OK, but don't be mean. Encouragement is always welcomed.

This makes me really miss my rowing days in high school and college! Excellent attention to detail, I love it!

Very nice. I hope the cox realizes 5 is off-pace.

Hahaha, I'll let them know.

It's not often a small image post is caused to stop and stare and admire and zoom in and zoom back out and admire some more. Great stuff!

I'm curious, do you know much about the physics of how waves and wakes and disturbances in the water look? (You got me wondering about how the oar splashes would look based on time since water contact)

Anyway, nice work. Thanks for sharing :)

What a lovely thing to read, thank you! There's no corner physics here, just copying the photo I took from a bridge one day. I'm just pleased with how well it came out.

This is a really lovely image.

Thank you! It didn't even take very long to draw, maybe an hour?

Sometimes the best art is done quickly!

Kinda cool how this picture feels animated

Thanks! The shadows under the oars help. I wasn't going to add them, but it's surprising what a difference they made.

The waves are doing work, too. I thought it was a high contrast black and white photo at first

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 2 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Very cool. Appreciate that it seems to be a decent resolution upload too.

[–] case_when@feddit.uk 3 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Ha, I keep running into the picture size upload limit, and end up doing all sorts of circuitous workarounds to reduce the size.

Wonder if there is a Lemmy instance that allows bigger uploads? It's not a great platform for sharing art imo due to this issue.
