Ferguson said in a news release on Monday that the state’s January application for assistance was denied in a letter he received on Friday. The state’s application had met all of the criteria necessary to qualify, he said.

“This is another troubling example of the federal government withholding funding,” Ferguson, a Democrat, said. “Washington communities have been waiting for months for the resources they need to fully recover from last winter’s devastating storms, and this decision will cause further delay. We will appeal.”

Irony here is that the red states demand leas government and lower taxes, so the federal structure is being weakened, which will lead to the blue states forming compacts for mutual aide to compensate. Which means in 10 years the red states will start whining that they aren’t in the compacts and demand FEMA.

The executive branch is fully rotten, just a total loss. It must be reined in. Which means we must turn Congress, or otherwise take extraordinary measures.

On the one hand I'm glad I no longer live in Florida. FEMA was always getting denied by the governor and the policies are terrible.

On the other hand I now live in Oregon and love it. Some policies have even protected us. But if the big earthquake ever hits and there's no FEMA for the state, it will become destitute.
