While Tesla’s global sales have taken a significant hit during the first quarter of 2025, the electric vehicle (EV) brand has seen a boost in sales in Ukraine.

Increased competition from lower-cost Chinese EV manufacturers have made Tesla prices more affordable for some Ukrainian consumers.

According to Ukraine's Association of Car Manufacturers, the demand for electric vehicles was on the rise in February and March, with Tesla leading in sales of used electric cars.

Any bets they're buying the Swastikars to use as sacrificial power sources for some kind of IED's...

😂 🤣

[–] redsand@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 4 days ago

They could be the IED. Self drive to target trigger on brake or crash... Probably just strip the cyber truck for parts and batteries it wouldn't make it to target

close, i would bet for their drones

Translation: used Teslas are now so unpopular, that only people regularly bombarded by Russia are willing to buy them (they probably dustrust Chinese cars more).

Hey, wait a minute

They’re dead cheap, pun intended

[–] thejml@lemm.ee 21 points 4 days ago (1 children)

They might be cheap, but I’d worry Musk would deactivate them remotely at any time.

At the end of the day, it's a unibody steel frame with some electric motors and batteries.

Ripping out Elon's shitty electronics and replacing them with something better isn't going to be in the 'too hard' basket for Ukraine.

Look up Rich Rebuilds on YT. He not only defied Tesla by rebuilding one from totaled Telsas with otherwise functional parts. But he also built one with (iirc) a V8 gas engine.

Uhh can i get a massive upront 0 interest loan to start a new company to do exactly this(and to also learn how to do this...)

What kind of nincompoop is both Ukrainian and still trusts any Elon musk tech

[–] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 33 points 4 days ago (1 children)

It's literally just "give me the cheapest car on the lot" and Teslas are bottom of the barrel

This. They just need vehicles that go forward, and occasionally backwards. Whatever's cheapest works best.

Ukrainians have been buying John Deere tractors for years… and reprogramming them.

No reason why they couldn’t do the same with Teslas.

[–] AshMan85@lemmy.world 7 points 4 days ago (2 children)

probably taking the batteries for their home built drones

[–] phx@lemmy.ca 6 points 4 days ago

I'd imagine that they good l could also be converted into decent power banks for homes during outages

[–] Jarix@lemmy.world 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Or taking components to build more drones as china fucks the strategic metals market? I'm just f guessing

Just gift them to the Russians and wait.

[–] bstix 2 points 4 days ago

Put them in self drive mode towards Moscow.

Vinfast investors are eating good. They don't don't even have to do anything.
