Van Hollen and Booker showing how representatives in government should be working for their constituents. I hope their aim is to be as annoying as possible until something good comes of it, but I worry Bukele will just arrest them and further erode the numbers we have in Congress.

The bottom line is that man will never be safe in this country again. This fascist regime has made sure of that. He will have a massive target on his back if he ever returns.

American fascism is here.

Look for him in this mound

We can get satellite imagery that has a resolution of 30cm (1 foot? Fucked if I know) I put in a request to get some of the site but they want $500 because I need to buy 25sq km of imagery. So I'm still looking for another vendor

You probably should ask the Covert Cabal channel on Youtube about this. They specialize in counting Russian armored assets - how many are still in storage, the rate tanks vanish, and so forth. They ought to know specialists and how to get the most cost-effective footage.

I wouldn't be surprised if CC someday covers concentration camps, seeing as how the Trump Regime is an Russian organ.

He obviously needs to bring armed forces with him and extract the guy and watch El Salvador blink in 1 second

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago (1 children)

And threaten bukele within an inch of his life. Then end it regardless.

[–] bizzle@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

Execute Bukele for crimes against humanity, come back and execute Trump for treason

[–] pinheadednightmare@lemm.ee 12 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Honestly, what is he gonna be able to do?

[–] Frozengyro@lemmy.world 29 points 6 days ago (2 children)

Try to do the right thing. That's something.

Imagine 3 more senators do this, would that change things in your eyes? 5? 10? Etc. Even if unsuccessful it puts the pressure on those involved, making them look incompetent whether they ignore it or bend over backwards to justify it. It's a smart way deal with unethical actors.

He's definitely gonna run for president again and is trying to position himself as relevant. He'll never win.

The Legislative and Judicial branches need their own armed forces in order to help provide a real counter to unconstitutional executive overreach.

[–] TheEighthDoctor@lemmy.zip 6 points 6 days ago

This is giving Jonestown

[–] Cool_Name@lemm.ee 4 points 5 days ago

Bukele will crack by the 18th hour of filibustering.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 4 points 5 days ago

He's gonna get assassinated

[–] ArchmageAzor@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago (1 children)

If I were that man I would not want to return to the US. Send him somewhere safe.

[–] chiliedogg@lemmy.world 13 points 6 days ago (1 children)

His wife and child are American citizens. His life, job and friends are in the US.

It's not easy for people to give up the people and places they love.

Meanwhile, in Germany 1934

[–] ProfHillbilly@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Why not all of them? Weren't they all wrongfully deported?

[–] Liberteez@lemm.ee 1 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago)

Bukele has already blinked.

I am not worried for Booker. The tide is slowing down, and may turn soon if the pressure continues from all sides. Trump has played his hand badly.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago (7 children)

Lets not conflate Van hollen and Booker.
Van Hollen actually does good with his position and I dont see skeletons in his closet.

Booker is a centrist zionist bullshitter trying to ride van hollens coattails. Booker has done some good things, but when the chips are down and his vote is needed, he doesnt show up. A DNC democrat that needs to be removed along with the rest of the so called "liberals". Lets make these people wear their voting history and not adore them for their purely performative BS or empty words.

Tired of empty cult of personality democrats.

[–] LePoisson@lemmy.world 17 points 5 days ago (1 children)

Well Booker is doing a hell of a lot more than most other reps when it comes to this, no need to shit on the dude.

Like, I'd take him over the GOP candidate that ran against him.

[–] kreskin@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago (1 children)

so would I, but why is our yardstick always "is he better than a republican". Thats exactly how we lose campaigns.

[–] LePoisson@lemmy.world 3 points 5 days ago (2 children)

It's not but party unity is also important and we won't find perfection. Working within the confines of our real world is important but I agree that we need better representatives. Booker is just what our system gave us and he's a lot better than many alternatives and worse than others.

Mostly I think having a unified message and party is important but hard when you're dealing with people who actually care.

[–] Rekorse@sh.itjust.works 2 points 5 days ago

Most would agree he sounds better and seems to do better somewhat, but it is still hard to trust him.

[–] CoolSouthpaw@lemmy.world 2 points 5 days ago

Hard agree. Underrated comment.

I think I'm starting to love him.
