Women only trans inclusive This is an inclusive community for all things women. Whether you're here for make up tips, feminism or just friendly chit chat, we've got you covered.

Rules…

  1. Women only… trans women are women, and transphobic or gender critical talk isn’t allowed. Anyone under the trans umbrella (e.g. non-binary, bigender, agender) is free to decide whether a women's community is a good fit for them.
  2. Don’t be a dick. No personal attacks, no aggression, play nice.
  3. Don’t hate on groups, hatefilled talk about groups is not allowed. Ever.
  4. No governmental politics, so no talk of Trump actions etc. We recommend Feminism@beehaw.org for that, but here is an escape from it.
  5. New accounts or users with few comments may have their posts removed to prevent spam and bad-faith participation.

Feeling bored with your wardrobe but don't want to spend money on new clothes? The Wrong Shoe Theory suggests pairing the most unexpected pair of shoes you have with your outfit to change the whole vibe. Examples include wearing flip-flops with tailored pants, combat boots with a summer dress, or bright colored loafers with a muted suit.

Wrong Jacket Theory works the same way, pairing things you wouldn't normally think go together, like a blazer with t-shirt and shorts, or a jean jacket with a nice dress.

Have you guys tried either of these? What combos do you like?

Yes all the time. For reasons I won’t get into, Crocs are my favorite shoes. I currently only own one brightly colored pair, but I want more to pair with more things. I’m tall with sort of silly proportions, so the sort of oversized, brightly colored shoes give a certain cartoonish look that I like.

I also do the jacket thing. I’ve got a “battle jacked” that I will wear over basically anything. It’s a denim jacket with this cool sheer panel in the back, and I’ve covered it in patches and pins. It’s got red spiked studs on one shoulder and some tastefully placed rips. I love it so much. It got lots of compliments at Pride last weekend.

I think I do the wrong jacket theory fairly often. I love mixing up smarter jackets with a casual style. I especially love wearing my tweed jacket with short pants and sneakers, goes nicely with plaid shirts as well.

I don't have a big enough selection of shoes at this point for the wrong shoe theory but I think I do this with socks sometimes. One of my favourites is wearing my Superman sucks (bright blue, red and yellow) with an otherwise all black outfit lol.

Dress and combat boots is like my go to...

This is really clever! Now I think of it, trainers v boots totally change an outfit. I do this sometimes with blazers and jeans. I'm not brave enough to do the more daring ones, I'm not sure I could pull it off!

I love blazers. I have 3 different ones with short sleeves in red, blue, and yellow. I love pairing them with casual clothes and shorts.

I have a harder time remembering the Shoe Theory. I tend to pick them based on color; I love when shoes are the same color as a top.

Any tips for picking good short sleeved blazers? The ones I've tried on have looked ridiculous on me

I love cap sleeves, and managed to find a great one in my size on poshmark.

The others I bought from Goodwill. The sleeves weren't short enough for me, so I altered them . I try to find ones that cinch in at the waist to give me the illusion of a figure. So it depends on what part of them isn't working for you.

Good thinking thanks!
