it’s in situations like this where i eat a few spoonfuls of peanut butter and then call it a day
When you’re hungry, but none of the food in your house is chocolate.
When you're broke so you have sleep for dinner.
That isn't food. It's ingredients.
Oven has been a life saver for me. I've eaten a ton of meals that consisted of baked fries, some kind of meat or fish and vegetables, and it's as simple as putting a bunch of stuff on a tray, adding salt and baking it for 15-20 minutes. Easily beats most comparable microwave meals in terms of taste, texture and probably nutritional value, too.
Air fryer as well. Sometimes faster than a conventional oven.
If you're cooking for one or two, it's definitely faster. Both because it's literally a convection oven, and because it's small and you don't have to wait for a whole oven to heat up.
I'm a bit confused about why this is upvoted and surprising. Are we saying that "cooking food" is some kind of life hack now?
I wouldn't call "throw some stuff in the oven and add salt" cooking. And either way it's vastly easier than working with pots and pans - you don't have to watch for pots boiling over or things turning black in the frying pan, and the clean-up is rather minimal, as well. Plus, pans tend to not that well with meat or veggies directly from the freezer (it's possible but harder, which is not great for the post's premise), which isn't even an issue when you use the oven instead.
Also, there's something about baking that makes food taste pretty consistently good, I've never managed that consistency on a stovetop. It's incredibly demoralizing when you put in the work to cook properly and it turns out shit.
Yep, you're cooked.
My theory is that milk coffee has enough substance to be considered food.
Have you ever thought about microorganisms in the air? There are billions of them in every m^3. Sounds like food.
That number is something like 5 orders of magnitude too high, unless perhaps you are currently standing in a cloud of dust in a stable or something.
I guess I’ll just die instead.
That's why god gave us the microwave
That's why I meal prep. Then I get home and microwave go brr.
