Their comment wasn’t making judgements of others, it was just a statement of personal feelings. On a memes community no less.

I get frustrated on Lemmy seeing stuff like this. Downvoting a completely innocent comment cause they have a different belief only makes their beliefs look dumb.

Have a conversation and let that conversation rise to the top of the comments.

I see this and think whoever is downvoting has such a fragile world view that it will break if they see a comment that offers a different take.

Because many of the readers here see it as an ethical issue.

I just want to point out that the “pro lifers” and trans phobes also think their position is an “ethical” one, and all their decisions are driven by that. Doesn’t make them right just cause they think they’re doing the ethical thing.

Why was this such an unpopular comment???

[–] danc4498@lemmy.world 1 points 19 hours ago (1 children)

I started it, but it’s 30 minutes and I don’t understand the connection.

It doesn’t take philosophy training to understand the concept of a simulation. Seemed so basic that the idea at you phrased it just sounded condescending.

Maybe you didn’t meant it to sound nasty, but the rest is your comment sounded a bit condescending. Below for instance.

and I know this might be a very difficult concept you've never heard of

So, what if in my heaven, I want everything to be real and not a simulation? I can play Madden on my Xbox on earth. Why would I want that in heaven?

Anyway, your joke created a fun philosophical conversation. Why ruin it by being nasty to others?

I love this show so much.

I think the premise of the joke is illogical because religion is illogical. Heaven is supposed to be perfect, but it can’t possibly be perfect for everybody.

If we’re going to overthink this joke, I would suggest none of it is real and this guy is living in a simulation.

It can detect that too? I guess I better get one then.

Petty sure I don’t need a toilet camera for that.

Guess the farmers will have to sell their farms to billionaires for half price now.

Go work for Amazon while Jeff Bezos uses your land to save money on groceries.

How do I know I’m real? Maybe this is how AI feels.

I had this thought after watching a game where the winning team came back from the 2 minute warning running the victory formation.

It seems dumb to me that we come back from the 2 minute ~~warning~~ commercial break and the only time we have action is if the game is close and the losing team has the ball or has timeouts.

What if instead, the winning team is forced to run plays that actually drain the clock, or attempt to get yards and points. I feel like this would make the last 2 minutes more exciting.

Take the Bills v Chiefs game. It was an exciting game, but Chiefs went into victory formation at the 1:30 mark. What if instead the chiefs would have to keep playing for at least another minute? What other sports can we have a game this close where the last minute+ is this boring?

Alternate idea, under 1 minute, the play clock stops after every play.

Any thoughts? I think both would make for a more exciting 2 minutes, and change the coaching strategy in an interesting way.

2 great movies about bad moms. One from the child’s perspective, the other from the mom’s perspective.
