Hi Lemmy!

Loop Earplugs are too expensive. Does anyone have cheaper recommendations?

details

Details:

  • I have Loop Quiet to cope with situations with a lot of chatter, such as at the canteen, where it feels like everyone is shouting.
  • I bought a pair of Loop Engage because I dislike having to take my Quiets out to have conversations. They haven't arrived yet.
  • I've tried the foam earplugs from a drugstore/chemist's. They're extremely difficult to put in properly and get dirty after a few uses.

Fwiw loops are way over priced but actually kinda worth it if you can swing it somehow.

I have to wear earplugs for work. I use Radians custom molded earplugs, they are much more comfortable than the expanding foam ones that the company provides. They were only $10-20 for a set. They are comfortable enough to wear all shift without removing them. I can have a conversation while wearing them easily as well. They are easy to clean, just requiring a wipe down, or wash up while washing hands. About the only time I feel I have to remove them is when I'm trying to eat, as the chewing/crunching is amplified due due to having the plugs in place.

I like ear plugs that are intended for using while listening to loud live music.

These are what I use, but I'm sure there are many comparable options: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B019M576XW

+1 for Eargasm. I use them for concerts all the time.

Check out:

https://www.sensaphonics.com/products/erseriesplugs (these are apparently what professionals use in the music business, like the people that make the magic behind the stage)

and

https://jhaudio.com/accessories/ACC-PLUG-CSTM-STD (these ones don't have any openings, so might be more difficult to converse, $75 cheaper tho)

I bought some pretty good reusable earplugs from Marks Work Warehouse a while ago, but it seems they don't carry them anymore. They're nifty little things that are all silicone with a tiny hole in the plug part that allows for sounds less than ~50dB (conversation levels).

Full disclosure, I don't have autism. But I've used this model/brand semi daily for years.

Would be nice to mention what they are, rather than just pushing a referral link.
