[–] nathanjent@programming.dev 1 points 1 hour ago

It's just the same angry guy with 6 different styles.

[–] jsomae@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 hour ago

I am a delta male. I have so many white shirts and so many white shirts that are to dirty to wear.

[–] satanmat@lemmy.world 31 points 20 hours ago (1 children)

Seriously? Not a single Brave New world reference??!!??

Alpha children wear grey. They work much harder than we do, because they're so frightfully clever. I'm really awfully glad I'm a Beta, because I don't work so hard. And then we are much better than the Gammas and Deltas. Gammas are stupid. They all wear green, and Delta children wear khaki. Oh no, I don't want to play with Delta children. And Epsilons are still worse.”

I guess the people who identify themself as " male" don't bother about books much.

Idk wtf a "gamma male" is but at least they acknowledge men with long hair now.

[–] ILikeBoobies@lemmy.ca 5 points 15 hours ago

Idk what those terms mean but it seems pretty gay to be comparing your boyfriends like that

[–] Valmond@lemmy.world 5 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

They all look the same except the Harry Potter type.

This alpha sigma omega bs is just astrology for men

[–] conditional_soup@lemm.ee 18 points 22 hours ago (2 children)

/ the new Meyers-Briggs Personality Test. It's literally an ego toy, something you use to enhance the narrative that you tell yourself about yourself.

[–] TacoNot@mander.xyz 2 points 13 hours ago

ego toy

Thanks for the new term!

Does anyone read into this bollocks?

May as well measure my head.

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 12 hours ago

May as well measure my head.

You joke, but they literally talk about measuring certain parts of people's faces and have weird terms for certain jaw types/sizes and shit.

It's real fucking weird.

[–] tempest@lemmy.ca 4 points 16 hours ago

It's just a listicle for the alt right male. No different than the witch Disney princess are you, or the Myers Briggs crap.

At this point I would be unsurprised if it was all LLMs just pumping them out.

The Myth of the Alpha Male by Pop Culture Detective 31 minutes and 37 seconds https://youtu.be/kpvpadX5mwM

[–] barneypiccolo@lemm.ee 10 points 21 hours ago

Looks like all you have to do to be an alpha is grow facial hair and wear a suit.

[–] egrets@lemmy.world 44 points 1 day ago (12 children)

From the thread, for the morbidly curious:

Alpha males are assertive and dominant. They often take charge in social settings, have high social status, and are charismatic leaders. They're the center of attention, like a CEO who can effortlessly command a room.

Examples of alpha males in movies include King Leonidas, Captain America, and Thomas Shelby. These characters are strong leaders, exhibit courage, and inspire those around them, often fighting for principles or causes bigger than themselves.

Beta males are less dominant and more agreeable and cooperative. They play a passive role in social hierarchies and crave forming relationships. A supportive colleague who willingly takes on a secondary role is a typical beta male.

Characters like Ron Weasley, Samwise Gamgee, and Bruce Banner are beta males who excel in supportive roles.

Delta males often go unnoticed in social settings. They are neither dominant nor submissive and are fairly average in social interactions. Their adaptability makes them reliable, but they rarely lead.

An individual who follows instructions well but isn't a natural leader represents a Delta male. Harry Potter, Marty McFly, and Frodo Baggins are Delta males who reluctantly take on leadership roles when needed.

Gamma males are contrarians, often rejecting or challenging social norms. Their independent thinking sometimes makes them outsiders. A rebellious artist who struggles socially but is intelligent in other ways encapsulates this type.

Tony Stark, Jack Sparrow, and Han Solo are gamma males who challenge social expectations. They are highly independent, intelligent, and a bit rebellious, making them stand out.

Omega males are at the bottom of the social hierarchy and often lack social skills. They are typically introverted and may not lack self-confidence but are generally unpopular. They are often focused on specific interests, like a nerd who prefers solitude in his hobbies.

Peter Parker, Newt Scamander, and Walter Mitty are Omega males who may struggle with social interactions but are capable of extraordinary things when focused on their passions.

Sigma males reject traditional social hierarchies and value their independence and self-reliance. They share charismatic traits with Alphas but operate outside conventional norms. A lone wolf who doesn't seek validation from others embodies this archetype.

Bruce Wayne, James Bond, and John Wick are Sigma males who operate outside traditional hierarchies. They are charismatic, self-reliant, and work alone, unfettered by societal expectations.

(He then goes on to plug several books about how to attract women.)

[–] prole@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 12 hours ago

Lol they can't even come up with real life examples and have to resort to movie characters.

[–] davidagain@lemmy.world 3 points 12 hours ago

If someone tells you they're a sigma male it's because they want to be an alpha but they're not popular and people don't follow them, so they say it's because they're unconventional rather than because their ideology is toxic and no one wants to hear it any more.

[–] dontbelievethis@sh.itjust.works 19 points 22 hours ago (1 children)

Bruce banner is not a gamma male? This is bullshit.

[–] Jankatarch@lemmy.world 2 points 10 hours ago (1 children)

To be fair names and descriptions don't have any relations or correlation so you may as well shuffle them as you like anyway.

[–] dontbelievethis@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 hours ago (1 children)

The joke is that Bruce banner became the hulk trough gamma radiation.

[–] Jankatarch@lemmy.world 1 points 49 minutes ago

I understand, I am saying you can still call him Gamma male. Just swap the descriptions.

[–] Taleya@aussie.zone 28 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So... horoscopes for the socially maladjusted

[–] MrMakabar@slrpnk.net 24 points 1 day ago

Nope, right wing bullshit repackaged to be attractive to young men, who want sex. Basically the idea is to naturalize hierachy in male groups, while at the same time isolating them socialy. When you try to dominate others, they usually do not like that and lets be clear most guys want to be the dominant kind in that kind of system. The funny part being that women also usually do not like it. There is a reason half the influencers in these sort of communities end up having to pay for women or just rape.

[–] Skullgrid@lemmy.world 10 points 22 hours ago

Beta males are less dominant and more agreeable and cooperative. They play a passive role in social hierarchies and crave forming relationships. A supportive colleague who willingly takes on a secondary role is a typical beta male.
Omega males are at the bottom of the social hierarchy and often lack social skills.

So they even changed the definition of betas. While the "originial culture" was a toxic cesspool, this repackaged corporate knockoff has no fucking clue about the origins of this shit.
Take the normies off the fucking internet.
