If I let them pick for me, is it cheaper or...?

[–] Showroom7561@lemmy.ca 4 points 2 days ago

Don't forget to add a 30% tip. πŸ€‘

[–] Jimmycakes@lemmy.world 16 points 3 days ago

Besides the 3 pack scam the single donut for 2.50 is extortionary

[–] fubarx@lemmy.world 41 points 4 days ago

It's a test. People who order the 3-pack are given applications for management positions.

[–] distantsounds@lemmy.world 39 points 4 days ago (2 children)

$2.50 for a single shitty doughnut…

[–] phdepressed@sh.itjust.works 12 points 4 days ago (4 children)

Better than Dunkin or Tim Hortons. And at least the glazed ones are still made on site.

Everyone in this thread:

There are excellent local donut or pastry shops everywhere.

[–] Ptsf@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Someone doesn't live in rural poor USA addicted to travel money and economically fed by the local McDonald's right off the highway and it shows lol

[–] CabbageRelish@midwest.social 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Eh, β€œbig town” rural rust belt. We’ve got a couple local shops but we’re the largest town for about 40 miles.

[–] Ptsf@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Fair. Ruralish Iowa here. I have a few local myself, which I do love to visit, but when I'm visiting my small town family I'm generally lucky if there's a grocery store within 20 miles that isn't the gas station.

Facts, I'm waiting for fall to get fresh cider donuts from the local farms and farmers market.

There's a couple local shops for more classic donuts (one has won statewide competitions) but their donuts are a bit overwhelming (v large) for any regularity and of course pricier. Worth it for myself occasionally, but too expensive to justify for coworkers.

[–] distantsounds@lemmy.world 9 points 4 days ago (2 children)

or just don’t buy any

[–] Ptsf@lemmy.world 0 points 2 days ago

Ah yes. Just stop living. It's expensive.

Someone never gets donuts for their meetings.

Literal overprocessed trash compared to Tim Horton's but US Tims might be lower quality than Canadian.

[–] nave@lemmy.ca 7 points 2 days ago (1 children)

do you think tim hortons makes fresh doughnuts?

[–] shawn1122@sh.itjust.works -2 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago) (1 children)

I think they make better doughnuts.

Flavor profile is more balanced. Krispy is way too sweet. Dunkin is pretty bad too.

Havent tried Tims in the US but I imagine it's bad. Have you tried Dunkin or Krispy Kreme? Tim Horton's is far from perfect but guarantee as a Canadian you'll never go back to either unless you have an American sized sweet tooth.

Most Americans I know find Timmies too bland because they're used to being punched in the face with HFCS.

[–] nave@lemmy.ca 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

I like tim hortons (I’ve only tried the candian ones) but its pretty obvious when you eat them that krispy kreme is a lot more fresh and imo a doughnut needs to be fresh to be really good.

I do agree dunkin is pretty bad tho.

[–] shawn1122@sh.itjust.works 1 points 2 days ago* (last edited 2 days ago)

I agree Tims at the end of the day on a college campus is a bit sus but if both are fresh I prefer Tims. I feel like I'm being orally violated by HCFS with Krispy.

[–] Zirconium@lemmy.world -5 points 4 days ago (5 children)

Fuck you, Krispy creme is shit compared to dunkin

[–] JigglySackles@lemmy.world 5 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Every time I've had dunkin it all tastes like it's a day old. Stale garbage. Every single time. I can't fathom why anyone would like it. I feel like people that laud dunkin just haven't had good doughnuts.

[–] BigPotato@lemmy.world 2 points 2 days ago

Growing up in an area with a strict Dunkin Donuts allegiance...

They've never had good donuts but their coffee was cheap and the donuts were too, which was good. I could still go for an iced coffee and Boston creme but not for the price they're selling it for these days.

[–] jawa22@lemmy.blahaj.zone 3 points 2 days ago

Dunkin doesn't make donuts, they make small bundt cakes.

[–] nickwitha_k@lemmy.sdf.org 6 points 3 days ago

Safeway's bakery or the local Korean donut place after easy winners over both, IMO.

[–] head_socj@midwest.social 1 points 2 days ago

Dunkin can suck my left nut. Those donuts are pure ass.

You and your cakenuts.

[–] apfelwoiSchoppen@lemmy.world 32 points 4 days ago (1 children)

They really don't want you getting 3.

[–] MotoAsh@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago

Or, that is the most popular choice for their braindead consumerist customers, so they jacked that price up the most.

[–] thesohoriots@lemmy.world 3 points 2 days ago

I went in and bought an assorted dozen the other week. Then as an upsell they asked if I wanted to buy an additional plain dozen. What the actual fuck.

[–] reddig33@lemmy.world 17 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I am impressed that someone took the time to match the sign placement to the donuts pictured on the sign.

[–] TootSweet@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Maybe they matched the donut placement to the sign. Did you ever think of that?

[–] reddig33@lemmy.world 4 points 4 days ago

Either way, nice attention to detail.

[–] RBWells@lemmy.world 11 points 4 days ago

3 single donuts please.

[–] bluesheep@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

The 12 pack isn't even the best value, the 6 pack is. What is this math lmao

edit: nvm I'm an idiot

[–] Dicska@lemmy.world 17 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (2 children)

[6] 13.99/6 = $2.3316666666666666666666666666667 per doughnut

[12] 21.29/12 = $1.7741666666666666666666666666667 per doughnut

Did you accidentally divide by the same number in both cases?

[–] bluesheep@sh.itjust.works 6 points 3 days ago

I am an idiot. I blame the time, it was 3am.

[–] Suburbanl3g3nd@lemmings.world 7 points 3 days ago (1 children)

It also depends on how many doughnuts you want to buy. If I want 12 doughnuts, the 12 pack is the cheapest option.

[–] Dicska@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

~~True. But the 12 pack is the cheapest option anyway.~~

Nevermind, I got it.

Upselling technique, and I am instantly sold
