General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

Nationalise them all. They’ve been syphoning off funds for their shareholders for decades. Time to put those profits where they should actually be used, improving the pipes and fixing shit, and any excess going towards other national infrastructure.

However, Chris Weston, its chief executive, told MPs that the company needed an exemption from the £1.4 billion in fines he expects the regulators, Ofwat and the Environment Agency, to impose for future breaches of environmental and performance rules.

Won't somebody think of the poor company facing the consequences of its own actions.

It's mad isn't it, what use is it fining them anyway, they will just make the customers pay and still pay out their dividends and bonuses.

Should just be nationalising no questions asked no compensation given.

All that money for bonuses has to come from somewhere.

All good. Nationalise or regulate to where we might not have to have faeces regularly dumped in our waterways because you've unjustifiably given our infrastructure money to directors and shareholders.

Won’t someone think of the shareholders and the poor management bonuses.

Poor things, they must be down to their last few millions by now.
