"I mean, I am a racist, to a point, fucking n*****s. But then when it comes to nice people and shit, and whatever. I guess we’re all a little racist. Fucking n****r."

  • Terry Bolea (Hulk Hogan)

Buddy. You're a whole lot more racist than I am.

Buddy. You’re a whole lot more racist than I am.

Hmm, must not be a nice person then

It is gratifying, however, that last Thursday is, in addition to the day of Hogan’s death, the 10th anniversary of the National Enquirer’s publishing audio of Hogan going on an n-word-laden tirade.

Interesting that the national enquirer was breaking news and informing people about who somebody truly is. I wonder what other information they held 10 years ago that we never found out about. 🤔

[–] RestrictedAccount@lemmy.world 23 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Ask Trump. He and The Enquirer had a long relationship of “catch and kill” for stories detrimental to Trump.

It smells a lot like extortion.

Not directly relevant, but back in the '80s two of my cousins grew up in Lantana FL, where the National Enquirer used to have its headquarters. Hilariously, the Enquirer sponsored a little league baseball team there and my two cousins were on the team. It was always weird to see them with their National Enquirer baseball jerseys on.

Congratulations Hulk. You are going to remembered first for things outside the ring.

Unfortunately, a lot of wrestlers are Republicans. When the bosses are also MAGA, it's a pretty toxic environment.

I'm sure the cte helps

D list actors is what they are.

My wife told me she didn't like hearing me celebrate someone's death so I doubled down and told her the minute trump dies i'm booking us a cruise.

Fuck all these people and may they rot in fictional hell.

[–] the_q@lemmy.zip 31 points 4 days ago

3 racists didn't like this.

[–] Strider@lemmy.world 20 points 3 days ago

Yeah, a real shame Ozzy died. RIP.

I just finished watching a video from the GOAT Star Trek YouTuber Steve Shives on his eventual realization what a scumbag his childhood hero turned out to be. He's one of the good ones, Steve is, check it out! https://youtu.be/Jq3pdXIQnfM

[–] kadaverin0@lemmy.dbzer0.com 19 points 4 days ago

I had the same experience. From little Hulkamaniac to fucking disappointed and disgusted adult finding out how big of a piece of shit he was.

[–] xSUPRNOVA@lemmy.world 8 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago) (1 children)

Holy shit. Haven't seen Steve in forever. He's a Star Trek YouTuber now? Crazy.

Edit: just checked his channel. I guess it's been longer than I thought. He's done Star Trek content for years. Time is weird.

[–] sarcasticsunrise@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Another Steve Shives fan!? Holy shit! There are dozens of us! I just started watching him maybe 5 years ago, but I love the dude. He's been doing a lot of political commentary stuff in that span of time as well and yeah, the man is a G. He's very earnest but also speaks his mind with no fuck given and I can't find an instance I've disagreed with him

[–] xSUPRNOVA@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago

I used to watch his critiques of Christian literature. Dude wears many hats. Lol

[–] neuracnu@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 3 days ago

I remember when Hulk Hogan got hurt, but I never thought the entire act was a fake. I’d always presumed that it was a legit injury from a performance mistake because a dangerous move was either served or received incorrectly, and the marketing machine just used this turn of events to its advantage.

My little brother was genuinely concerned and sent him a letter. If the injury was faked, coercing young fans into a letter writing campaign is pretty shitty.

It’s always sad when your childhood heros turn to be assholes. I wish I had been in Ultimate Warrior’s corner in Wrestlemania VI.

[–] Zedd_Prophecy@lemmy.world 17 points 3 days ago

This guy was a brain addled douche nozzle. If their is an afterlife I hope he is continually being pile driven by Andre the giant. Like Sisyphus but sweatier.

[–] lmdnw@lemmy.world 18 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I hope his last moment was immensely painful as his heart gave out and ruptured. Rest in piss, Terry.

[–] soooma@feddit.uk 0 points 3 days ago (2 children)

I hope your last moment is peaceful and full of love. Even if you've done some bad things. You don't get to pick much that determines the ride.

[–] phutatorius@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 day ago

You don’t get to pick much that determines the ride.

Lifestyle choices can vastly shift the odds, though.

You can pick not being a union busting, life ruining, nazi, these are just a few of the many things within all of our control. Fuck universalism, he was a terrible fucking human being on a level of conscious choice.

His legacy is trash, and he is responsible for the hate.

[–] RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.world 13 points 3 days ago (1 children)

No wonder he’s a polished turd the right wing loves.

[–] WanderWisley@lemmy.world 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

The iron sheik is getting ready to travel to hell to put that son of a bitch hulk hogan in a camel clutch one more time.

[–] Stern@lemmy.world 2 points 3 days ago

Him, Andre, and Randy Savage are carpooling.

[–] psycho_driver@lemmy.world 6 points 3 days ago (1 children)

All I can say is that he brought enough joy to my childhood that I will not add his grave to my list of bathroom break stops when road tripping across the US.

[–] Doomsider@lemmy.world 4 points 3 days ago

I can agree with this. It was a real shame he turned out to be such a shitheel.

[–] burgerpocalyse@lemmy.world 3 points 3 days ago (4 children)

i feel that you can separate the Hulk Hogan character from the man Terry Bogan, and feel sorrow for the loss of one and maybe a bit of grim satisfaction for the other

[–] rumba@lemmy.zip 9 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I don't know that he had that many layers.

Feel loss of nostalgia maybe

[–] SoleInvictus@lemmy.blahaj.zone 10 points 3 days ago

He was a two layered onion: onion on the outside, rotten onion on the inside.

[–] knatschus@discuss.tchncs.de 2 points 3 days ago

And he can't hurt you anymore.
