This is at the Lincoln shields recreation area in Missouri, looking northwest up the Mississippi river :)
Was it a bridge? What happened to the rest of it?
Yes I believe they are the support from the old bridge although I'm not positive, there is a newer bridge just down the river.

For anyone wondering what I'm on about, if you have a symmetrical object with sharp lines in front of you take the time to do something with them. In this photo, OP made sure they were centered/squared to them. This makes for a very pleasing photo.
